Minnelli: "Losing My Mind"...are you really?

Along with the rest of the female population, I am VERY excited for Sex and the City 2: I wish I could go to the midnight showing but Saturday is the big day (so a blog about it will OBVIOUSLY follow). I just am anticipating everything: the fashion, the plot, the fashion, the characters, the fashion, the return of Aidan (one of my favorite boys, OBVI), the fashion...I'm really excited for the fashion if you couldn't guess. Of course there are many celebrities who make fun cameos in the sequel: Miley Cyrus, Tim Gunn....and....Liza Minnelli. While the first two are credited with a keen sense of style and usually impeccable choices, Liza Minnelli- thanks to the picture you currently avoiding like the plague- does not. My question is...WHERE'S PAT FIELD TO SAVE THE DAY?! THAT WOMAN HAS REMARKABLE STYLING STRATEGIES, WHY COULDN'T YOU HAVE WORKED YOUR MAGIC ON MS. MINNELLI?! I am completely honest when I say that my jaw dropped and I was SPEECHLESS when I saw this. I think it's very funny that Daily Mail mentioned who other celebrities were wearing but NOT Minnelli! Coincidence? I think not!! The only word I can use to describe this is AWFUL. So bad. It's as if she wanted to be in Mama Mia but failed. Although fashion's beauty is in the eye of the beholder, this borderlines social decency...just kidding...it passes that line...There is no excuse for this. Cover up, Minnelli.

Laced to Perfection

As an aspiring fashionista, I am always on the prowl for good fashion taste everywhere: on the streets, in school, and in magazines. So I was extremely happy to find this spectacular number on www.teenvogue.com. I really wanted to see the movie Remember Me but not for the reason everyone else wanted to: Rob Pattinson. Personally, I'm more of a Taylor Lautner kind of girl. The plot seemed interesting but, besides good 'ol Rob, I had no idea who was in the movie. Apparently Emilie de Ravin is. And apparently, she dressed quite well to the London premiere of her movie. I've always been a big fan of lace: it can be feminine, sexy, old school glamour, or all of the above! But it can also be something else: old lady. Some people can pull of the lace quite beautifully, but others fail and look like a reject from Grandma's closet. But Emilie did it perfectly; the short dress, bowed waist, and some lace on skin action made her look like a feminine sexy vixen from Old Hollywood. To put it bluntly, I loved it. I sometimes think that people are afraid to wear lace, in fear that they'll look too matronly. Quite frankly, you can wear lace anytime: a mini, a sexy dress, a sweater with lace detailing, or even your lingerie! And in terms of the color: I thought it was genius. In my personal opinion, lace can only be worn as outter wear in either dark or nude colors. NO NEON LACE. I also think that people instantly associate black to being "emo". I wear black all of the time and I consider myself a rather happy person! Emilie de Ravin looked chic and sexy in black. In conclusion, a major fashion do in my book! This outfit doesn't have to beg to be remembered, it'll never be forgotten!

Superman 'Dat....oooh?

Leighton Meester at the Date Night premiere in New York City. Thoughts? First of all, I didn't know that Meester was in Date Night, but evidently she plays the babysitter of Fey's and Carell's fictional family. And now the outfit. After many research attempts, I have no idea who created this dress. Like many critics, I like the outfit...just not the cape. I think that Meester matched the gladiator inspired heels and geometric print very well: it's almost like a past and future meet and have a nice dinner. The sporadic specks of green spice it up a bit...but the cape spices it up too much! As a fringe fan, I tried to love the fringe, I really did. But I just couldn't: the fringe contorts Meester's frame. You know what would've been kind of cool? Instead of a fringed cape, the skirt of the dress was fringed! I do admire Leighton Meester, though: she takes good risks and is rarely boring! I'm never a big fan of Leighton's make-up. To me, her face either looks overdone or underdone. But, I'm no beauty blogger. So Leighton, nice concept, but lose the cape!
