Sheer Madness

I cannot tell you how many times I've seen fashionistas rocking the sheer top trend. In class, at events, or meetings, for example. EVERYWHERE. Before I tried the trend myself, I hated it. Call me an old lady, but I thought a bandeau was necessary. Some of my friends call me a "never-nude" because I always seem to cover myself up; however, I was itching to try this trend. 

What was so great about it? I was on a quest for answers.

When I was home for Thanksgiving break, I found this fabulous Catherine Malandrino shirt and knew that I had to have it and put this trend- test into motion. When I visited my friend last weekend, I realized that this social outing called for a sheer top. Obviously, I aso wore a fur vest for part of the night. Nothing can come between a Trendologist and her fur, after all.

For the record, I wore this shirt with black skinnies and black boots.

To be perfectly honest, I kind of loved this outfit. A sheer top, especially with a solid bra, gives this effortlessly sexy vibe. And who doesn't want to be effortlessly sexy? Also, I love the ruffles and dainty drama of this shirt: it makes the sheer aspect seem natural, instead of "Hey, this shirt is sheer." When I first put on this top, I was a little self-conscious because it leaves little to the imagination! As long as you have confidence and find a sheer top that complements your body, you should definitely give this trend a try!

I wore this shirt with a black, plunging Calvin Klein bra. Though I wouldn't recommend it, you could wear a more vibrant bra with this trend. Personally, a solid black bra with any sheer top makes this look seem classy. 

While I do deem this trend a style do, I do believe that there's a time and place for a sheer shirt. A classroom or meeting, for example, is not one of them. As long as you style with the effortless sexy in mind, you'll be fine! Keep it classy, fashionistas!

Here's to You, Mrs. Robinson...

So me and two of my friends have been on a movie marathon frenzy lately. Every Saturday for two, almost three, weeks have been filled with movies, laughs, and the inevitable trip to the diner. This past Saturday, we all cozied up together and watched The Graduate. None of us have ever seen it, but we were curious and felt it was quite necessary. I really did like it!! The era, the concept, the famous "Mrs. Robinson" song by Simon & Garfunkel- so fabulous and so revolutionary!! My favorite part of the movie you ask? Mrs. Robinson. This movie actually made me want to become a cougar in my future. She was completely in control: she knew what she wanted and she so went for it! Although she seemed to be self- conscious when her daughter got in Ben's life, it is obvious that her "I am the shit" attitude exudes confidence. Love her. AND HER STYLE (here's the tie-in, folks) was awesome! She dresses magnificently. I don't want to annoy anyone with all of the occasions she dressed magnificently, so just see the movie. IT WAS JUST AWESOME! As I frequently reflect on her style, I realized that her style is not far off from things many people wear today. Black, fur coats, more black- TIMELESS CLASSICS. She's sexy, glamorous, and classy. Isn't that what we all want? ...I think so...

I gathered some pieces from my closet that I though best portrayed this cinematic legend. Yves Saint Laurent, Aqua, Victoria's Secret...anyone can become the next Mrs. Robinson! Just look for a young, sexy boy to seduce...

The Power of Red

First of all, I'm really sorry this blog is all over the place! I feel really guilty for not blogging in a while and am going off on a tangent, so bear with me! I just came back from college-ing and fell even more in love with the university I'll be attending come fall.I stocked up on my school apparel, and obviously red was one of the colors. I've always thought that red was such a great color: it was flattering, powerful,sexy, glamorous. Just like Christian Louboutin soles. I discussed the Louboutin/collaboration in my former blog, but I have never exactly analyzed how amazing Christian Louboutin is in my blog: he is honestly a genius.He knows exactly what a woman wants: comfort, appeal, and recognition. And his shoes do just that. I hope to have a whole closet of Louboutin heels when I grow up; I have already started my collection (a chartreuse leather wedge: they are comfortable and make my legs look great)! I love how he can create fun and sexy shoes in different heights and silhouettes. Of course we all love our stilettos, but there's only so much of it we can take! I've always found his inspiration so interesting: showgirls. As classy as we all love to say we are, I just know that everyone secretly wishes they danced in sequins and sparkles. But Louboutin can make shoes that are classy and fun at the same time! And the red sole was genius. It was unprecedented but the smartest thing. Women love feeling empowered as they strut down the street, with their red sole peeking out during each step. And it furthers Louboutin's brand! You know how people brought back the "Volkswagen punches", I think there should be "Louboutin punches" whenever somebody spots the red sole! Good plan? Whenever people think of high fashion heels, I feel like Jimmy Choo and Manolo Blahnik (thank you, Carrie Bradshaw) are the first brands to come to mind. But I really feel like, no offense to the other two (you have my complete love and admiration as well), Christian Louboutin is where it's at. I think we all need to start paying attention to him, his shoes, and the iconic red sole!

Laced to Perfection

As an aspiring fashionista, I am always on the prowl for good fashion taste everywhere: on the streets, in school, and in magazines. So I was extremely happy to find this spectacular number on www.teenvogue.com. I really wanted to see the movie Remember Me but not for the reason everyone else wanted to: Rob Pattinson. Personally, I'm more of a Taylor Lautner kind of girl. The plot seemed interesting but, besides good 'ol Rob, I had no idea who was in the movie. Apparently Emilie de Ravin is. And apparently, she dressed quite well to the London premiere of her movie. I've always been a big fan of lace: it can be feminine, sexy, old school glamour, or all of the above! But it can also be something else: old lady. Some people can pull of the lace quite beautifully, but others fail and look like a reject from Grandma's closet. But Emilie did it perfectly; the short dress, bowed waist, and some lace on skin action made her look like a feminine sexy vixen from Old Hollywood. To put it bluntly, I loved it. I sometimes think that people are afraid to wear lace, in fear that they'll look too matronly. Quite frankly, you can wear lace anytime: a mini, a sexy dress, a sweater with lace detailing, or even your lingerie! And in terms of the color: I thought it was genius. In my personal opinion, lace can only be worn as outter wear in either dark or nude colors. NO NEON LACE. I also think that people instantly associate black to being "emo". I wear black all of the time and I consider myself a rather happy person! Emilie de Ravin looked chic and sexy in black. In conclusion, a major fashion do in my book! This outfit doesn't have to beg to be remembered, it'll never be forgotten!
