The Weekly: All About Blake

So my guilty-ish pleasure is coming back this week to TV: GOSSIP GIRL. I watch Gossip Girl not because of it's addicting drama but for THE CLOTHES. Eric Daman is such a genius when it comes to styling each character in he or she's own unique way. And they're going to be in Paris so we can only hope for some stellar Parisian fashion. So, in dedication to the premiere, I decided to make this weekly look blog about Blake Lively. She's just an it girl in the fashion world. Like did anyone read that article in the September Issue of Vouge? And how Christian Louboutin named a shoe after her?! I died when I read that.  I will admit though, the girl knows how to dress. So I've picked out a few outfits of Blake Lively from this week that I LOVE.

• At Vogue Fashion Show: She's been really into the cleavage lately and I was so excited to see her something that wasn't overtly sexy. This Marchesa dress is so hip and cool and I love how she wore it: no uber special jewels or shoes, allowing the dress to be the overall "wow" factor.
• At Sotto Sotto: What I admire most about this outfit is how she looks put together and chic even when she's going out for dinner. I love the flow of this goddess-esque dress, but the strong strapped shoe gives it soem balance. The color looks amazing on her and once again, no cleavage spree!! She has such a naturally great sense of style, she doesn't need her boobs to explode out of her dresses!!

My Beef with Taylor Momsen

So I watch Gossip Girl: partially for the "drama" and partially for the fashion. I mean if you just look at that link, do you get fashion shivers? I do... Anyways, there's a lot of things I don't like about the show: the drama is sometimes so unrealistic and the acting can be so bad. But the one thing I like least about the Cw hit?  TAYLOR MOMSEN. She is the one celebrity that I despise. We are the same age so you'd think that I would see her as a potential friend, right? Wrong. In a Teen Vogue interview, she's just so snobby it's painful.  She creates a front like she's better than every other teenager in the world.  And she's absolutely not especially because she looks and dresses like a train-wreck.  Like I get looking "rough" and hipster-esque...but she looks drugged up and a mess...all of the time. Like recently, she was spotted wearing these heels that had a nice compartment for tips. And with that ensemble she looks like a total prostitute.  I think what bothers me most about Taylor Momsen is her abrupt style change.When she was originally on her "rise to fame"- if she's even famous, that is-  she used to look so demure, clean, and matchy-matchy. And now she's all rebellious and somehow unable to conform...don't buy it. So all of this anger blew up when I learned that she is going to be the new face of a clothing line the material, Madonna. I mean the actual line is good: I think the clothes look innovative, edgy, but still appealing.  I think it's wrong to have Momsen as a face for this line. First of all, who looks up to Taylor Momsen. Second of all, there are plenty other actresses with a kind of commercial edge that other celebrities have . And third of all, come on Madonna! What about your daughter? That'd be sweet. Anyways...Taylor stinks.

Breaking out the Band

So today I premiered a new headband (please view your left): my mom and I saw this a few weeks ago and decided that it was imperative that I owned it. It was so fun, unique, and springy. I was very excited, a wee bit nervous, to wear this headband to school: my jean vest combination could've made me easily mistaken for a Carrie Bradshaw 1980's wanna-be or a trailer home momma. But I loved it. For the record, I don't believe I resembled that scary model. I'm not going to lie, I did get some really odd looks. One man today at work said that he liked "the thing on my head" in a mocking tone. I was not really feeling it...but I assumed that they were all just jealous. Doesn't everyone want to had an amazing headband to rock? I think so... To me, a headband is the perfect accessory to have: it's not as outfit-consuming as a hat but it can solve a bad hair day. Also, they're so much fun: girly but edgy enough to make a statement. I could go on and on about Gossip Girl's Blair Waldorf and all of her headbands, but I am personally traumatized by last week's season finale and she went a little toooo overboard with the headbands.I believe the key is to accessorize with pragmatism. That being said, here are some fun headbands for all types of girls!
