The Weekly: So Fierce It's So Nuts

Yesterday, something really cool happened to me: I helped out at my VERY first fashion show. Yes thats right, I was a dresser for my university's Fashion Club semi-annual show. It was pretty incredible. At first, i was a little bit nervous about not knowing what exactly to do as a dresser. And the time restriction seemed stressful. BUT IT WAS A BLAST. I loved working with the designers, models, and people who actually have a passion for fashion.

No pictures of the actual show but it looked FABulous.

I have a LOT of weekly looks so I'll just cut to the chase; onto the Weekly!

• Shakira at the 2010 Bambi Awards: I'm so in love with this look; she looks like a golden goddess! I'm obsessed!!  One shoulder dresses are so in right now and the silhouette hugged her body in the RIGHT way. The golden tone and the texture of the dress was so gorgeous and I loved her beachy waves, it was so refreshing and so Shakira. I also enjoyed how she matched the metallics with a matte clutch. Purely incredible.
• Olivia Palermo at the Glamour Awards: So I'm oddly obsessed with Olivia Palermo's style and this look is no different! The textures and fabric mixture is so awesome, chic, and trendy, I'm in love. I've seen a lot of the shear skirt looks and I think that Palermo does it the best.  The V-Neck is so tasteful  but definitely sexy. The sleek updo makes her look like a class act. And the accessories?! I LOVE GOLD. And that slim leopard belt, so unexpected but so awesome! And her style...but that's a given, right? 
• Victoria Beckham at a Fashion Conference: This may sound cliche, but Victoria Beckham ceases to amaze me: she always looks so incredibly POSH. Especially in this three-quartered dress. First of all, I love sleeved dresses. Second of all, yellow is so awesome: so happy, mod, and fashion forward. And the sleek ponytail makes the whole look come together. And, when mixed with Chanel, what could be better?
• Ginnifer Goodwin at MOCA Gala (Chanel): I see that BU alums have incredible style, true story. I love this Chanel, who doesn't love Chanel?! I'm obsessed with pearls and lace, I'm your traditional girly girl, so this dress looks absolutely DIVINE. The bodice is so intricate, which makes the rather plain lace skirt a perfect foil. And I also love how she had neutral make up on, it was so effortless and chic. This whole look, in fact, is just that.
• Rachel McAdams at the Morning Glory New York Premiere (Lanvin):  Rachel McAdams is so gorgeous, and this premiere is no exception! I love when she wears soft colors; this Lanvin was PERFECT. Usually, I'm not a big fan of ruched dresses, but this one complimented her hourglass figure instead of hindering it. While I would choose a different pair of shoes, I still think she looks absolutely wonderful.
• Kate Hudson at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards (Lanvin): I've said it before and I'll say it again, I would be Kate Hudson if I could be any modern Hollywood starlet. I love her free-spirit, her movies, and her style. This one shoulder- once again, another big trend- looks absolutely positively chic on her.  The side ruche, however, gives this dress a lot of spice. And I love the beige shimmer on her! She really looks like old time Hollywood glam. And the waves, mixed with the red lip, looks so retro and really incredible. I LOVE HER!

The Weekly: To Perfume and Makeup, From Ribbons and Curls

So this week was PARENTS WEEKEND at college which means eating some great food and $hopping. It was lovely to see the good 'ol folks; we got to see some of Boston's lovely fall!

In terms of shopping, I got some basic shirts and this cardigan I'm obsessing over. The one thing I felt like I was seriously lacking in my wardrobe was a black cardigan. But would you rather have a plain black cardigan or one with a little something special on it? Like some jewels? The jewels, duh!

ONTO THE WEEKLY!

• Kristen Stewart at the Welcome to the Rileys screening (Valentino and Brian Atwood): I don't really like Kristen Stewart; I personally think that both Jacob and Edward could do better but she actually looks really well dressed here. She threw away those stinking Converses and decided to dress like a lady. Beige and black is so cool and I love how the dress isn't just one laced pattern: she's switched it up and kept some of her funk in this dress. The one shoulder is genius, otherwise it would be so boring. The red lip, paired with the black pump, just really makes it classy: which is something  she hasn't pulled off with such grace until now. Props, Kristen Stewart, props.
• Scarlett Johansson at MANGO in Spain: LOVE. If she didn't pull this off with the perfect amount of accessories and grace, I would not be a fan. But I just love the necklace she's wearing which spices up the dress but doesn't over-do the look. And the chunky black shoes? AWESOME. She rarely looks unkept, she's Scarlett Johansson! I think her messy up-do created such a cool sense of indifference with this look. LOVING IT.
• Blake Lively at Vertu Launch Party (Dior):  This outfit is such a  cool going out look. I love jackets of all kinds, but this leather blazer-esque one is to die for. The fuchsia looks incredible on her and she's finally covering up her cleavage (it was seriously starting to get old). Some people are not fans of the black tights, but I really like them. In the Autumn/ Winter season, I wear tights like it was my job. If she didn't wear tights, the fuchsia would look too summer-ish, I believe.  But anyways, top job, Blake!

Weekly Looks: A Fierce Feminity

There's nothing really new and fashion forward to report for this Weekly. OH... I did order a new necklace which I'm SUPER excited about! It should (hopefully) be arriving soon...like tomorrow. So instead, here's a nice picture of Boston!

For this Weekly, the looks are really girly. I think the theme of this week, in my life, is GIRLY. Just all of the colors, silhouettes, and patterns are so fierce and girly. So anyways...onto the looks!

• Keira Knightley at "Never Let Me Go" Premiere (Chanel): A dream of mine is to be covered in pearls. Drenched in pearls. Keira Knightley, I'm so jealous of you. She looked absolutely  SPECTACULAR. From far away, this dress could be considered "boring". BUT THE DETAIL?! Incredible. The knee hem is so classy and the strong black heel is uber chic. What I love about Keira Knightley is how she always know to dress in an eclectic and interesting way.
• Eva Mendes at  LA Philharmonic (Dior): In my mind, this dress is the epitome of whimsy bohemian. This pink looks SO amazing with her skin complexion and the silhouette is so princess-esque. But the bronze and silver beading gave it a bit more spice and prevents it from being too girly. As much as I love little cocktail dresses, I respect Eva Mendes for wearing a gown: it exudes class.
• Rachel Bilson at the Roberto Cavalli 40th Anniversary Party (Roberto Cavalli): This dress is so Cavalli and it looked amazing on her! I love leopard, always, and this silhouette worked so well with the print. It was genius to match the dress with the red clutch. It reminded me so much of Christian Louboutin AND Lipstick Jungle in one. So wonderful.

The Weekly: I'm Fine Baby How are You?

So this week was lovely: a bunch of studying for my dreaded midterms and then I got to pack my things, hop on an express Amtrak, and go hooooome. Going home and being home is so refreshing and nice: going back to all that's familiar. It's been packed with errands, seeing friends, eating food, and SHOPPING. It opened my eyes about what I'm looking for during this Autumn season.

GLAMOUR: These Vena Cava for Aqua shorts are incredible and are the epitome of glam, something that's always a necessity!

COLOR! I'm craving some warm colors with a bohemian texture or print. Think Free People!

FUN AND FUNK. Fashion is fun and it's fun when you're funky.

Going home has also made me realize how much I miss a true Autumn. Unless you go to the Commons, crunchy leaves and changing colors go unnoticed. Although I'm a summer baby, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the fall: it's the perfect juxtaposition of warm and cold. And the color scheme is awesome. I really just want  some pumpkin pie or an apple picking spree. Buuuut I leave tomorrow so that's probably not going to happen. But a girl can dream, right?

• Naomi Watts at the Fair Game Screening: I've said it before and I'll say it again, the only way to succeed with a LBD is something really classic (a la Audrey Hepburn) or something really creative. Naomi opted for the creative LBD and I'm LOVING it. The silhouette is pretty cool, I love all of the edgy aspects of it. And the muted gunmetal pumps turn it into something quite spectacular and classy.
• Rachel Bilson at Dior: Some of my friends and I had a mini O.C marathon, and even though her style in the show is rather ugly, I love Rachel Bilson's personal look. And this pink Dior looks incredible on her. I'm not the biggest fan of the strappy heel but the dress is so gorgeous and feminine and I just love it.
• Emma Roberts at Teen Vogue Party: Okay so I'm really not a fan of Emma Roberts, she's pissed me off ever since her stupid Teen Nick Show. But I will be fair, the girl can dress. And I especially LOVE this Malandrino on her. She's looks reeeaaallly old but I love the drapery and this purple is absolutely ravishing. I think a messy updo would look so awesome with this dress: extremely greek goddess-ish.

The Weekly: Manolo and More

So this week was lovely. I kind of sort of met Manolo Blahnik...yeah..that's right...IT WAS AWESOME! When I was at the Copley Shopping Center last weekend, I saw a sign that changed my life: "Personal Appearance of Manolo Blahnik". I almost died. So yesterday, I hopped on the T and trekked all the way to Neiman Marcus. Women of all shapes, sizes, and styles, came to see the shoe genius.  I waited in line for maybe a little over an hour and then it happened. I met Manolo. It was the COOLEST THING IN THE WORLD. I got picz and an autograph and I was in heaven. There were these Manolo Blahnik books for sale, but they were sold out. I told Manolo this and he apologized to me. Single handedly best experience.

ONTO THE WEEKLY! 

• Sarah Jessica Parker at Burberry: I loooove this. I think her monotone look for some reason works so well. So many textures!! And it's so appropriate for the Burberry Show: the military inspired jacket was so London. I think the edginess of the brown ensemble worked so well with such a soft pink handbag. It was much better than that ugly wardrobe on SATC 2.
• Cat Deeley at Burberry: Where to begin? She looks like the epitome of cool: I love the stealth black pants and the...MILITARY JACKET! Usually, I really don't like when people belt short shirts or jackets: it looks too weird to me. But this looks AWESOME. I think this works well because the belt hit right where the buttons stopped. And I love me some black booties! Her outfit looked so structure, yet her hair was so tousled and wild.  Perfect mix. I adore it.
• Reese Witherspoon at the Livestrong Benefit: So I know that this look isn't quite versatile, but I think that she looks amazing. The jacket and dress combination was very business, but the shoes are so sexy. She never ceases to fresh and youthful. I just looove her!

The Weekly: Gothic Glam

So I went to the Boston Swan Boat ride today, which has nothing to with fashion but I still enjoyed it. It was incredibly fabulous and serene, which is so ironic in the chaotic city of Boston. I decided to show some of the pictures I took today before we got to the lovely weekly looks that I found.

SO ANYWAYS... onto the weekly looks! I've been so busy that I haven't seen too many but I the ones that I loved this week...I LOOOOVE. All three of them had some kind of creative ornate gothic quality that I'm loving, especially as we are entering fall. Sooo here they are!

• Blake Lively at "Live with Regis and Kelly": SHE'S BEEN OWNING IT SO MUCH LATELY. I'm absolutely obsessed with the juxtaposition of a plain leather skirt and a fabulously frilly top. Tough meet feminine meets uber chic. And a blue leather skirt speaking of leather? So fierce, so now, so lovin' it.  This is also a prime example of how TO wear feathers. I loooove this.
• Cate Blanchett (Vintage Christian Larcoix Haute Couture): JAW-DROPPING INSANITY. I love scarlet and gold together: it looks so edgy, yet, so regal at the same time. The detailed bodice was breath-taking. Also, the fading design, which turns into a scarlet train was so good: it wasn't too much or too less, JUST ENOUGH. The make-up also was really natural, which allowed the attention to be right where it should be: the dress.
• Carey Mulligan at a Never Let Me Go Screening (Elie Saab): So I really HATE Carey Mulligan: I hate her face because it bothers me so much. But there's no denying that this Elie Saab was worn extremely well. The semi- revealing bodice was extremely sexy and a super good match with the semi- fringed skirt. I've said it before and I'll say it again, it is crucial that the B in LBD doesn't stand for BORING. I don't like when black dresses boring, accessorized poorly, and have zero innovation. But this looks absolutely amazing on her and it's a beautiful dress in general!

The Weekly: All About Blake

So my guilty-ish pleasure is coming back this week to TV: GOSSIP GIRL. I watch Gossip Girl not because of it's addicting drama but for THE CLOTHES. Eric Daman is such a genius when it comes to styling each character in he or she's own unique way. And they're going to be in Paris so we can only hope for some stellar Parisian fashion. So, in dedication to the premiere, I decided to make this weekly look blog about Blake Lively. She's just an it girl in the fashion world. Like did anyone read that article in the September Issue of Vouge? And how Christian Louboutin named a shoe after her?! I died when I read that.  I will admit though, the girl knows how to dress. So I've picked out a few outfits of Blake Lively from this week that I LOVE.

• At Vogue Fashion Show: She's been really into the cleavage lately and I was so excited to see her something that wasn't overtly sexy. This Marchesa dress is so hip and cool and I love how she wore it: no uber special jewels or shoes, allowing the dress to be the overall "wow" factor.
• At Sotto Sotto: What I admire most about this outfit is how she looks put together and chic even when she's going out for dinner. I love the flow of this goddess-esque dress, but the strong strapped shoe gives it soem balance. The color looks amazing on her and once again, no cleavage spree!! She has such a naturally great sense of style, she doesn't need her boobs to explode out of her dresses!!

Fierce.

So first week at college has been fuuuun. I'm currently in preparation for a JUNGLE THEMED PARTY so obvi, I pulled out the fur and cheetah that I brought with me. I just think that themed parties are the best idea EVER. They just seem like such a good mix of creativity and fashion and FUN! Love love love!  Anyways, on to the weekly looks! I just need to say that Jessica Alba has been owning it this week. LOVE HER. So yeah...here they are!!

• Oscar de la Renta (Resort 2011):  This is so nostalgic to the summer but I love all of the different patterns: they work so well together. And the yellow and blue color scheme?! LOVE. I think the beauty of this outfit is that separate, they'd be beautiful. But they are just so unexpected together but for some reason, it works. 
• Jessica Alba at "The Late Show": A lot of people don't like this look, but I personally do. I think it's feminine and cute. The strong strapped shoes add a sense of masculinity to the ensemble. She's been having so many moments for Machete...I've never heard of the movie.
• Jessica Alba at Venice Machete Premiere: I don't know if I love or hate this dress but I'm thoroughly intoxicated with it. It's just so interesting and quite unique. I'm personally loving the dress but the shoes? Not so much! The asymmetrical skirt, however, is so right on and I think it's interesting it's in brown. I know I didn't like brown dresses come Emmy time but ...it's Jessica Alba!!
• Natalie Portman at Venice Film Festival: Can I even describe how beautiful this dress is?! SHE LOOKED AMAZING! OH MY GOD SO BEAUTIFUL. The design was amazing and the red was so glam.  It moved perfectly in the wind and was perfectly accessorized. The only bad thing I have to say is that I wish I wore it...but I can't even say that because Natalie is such a star!!

The Weekly: Going the Distance

If someone is not aware how badly I want to see the new movie, Going the Distance, they definitely do not know me: every time I see a simple commercial or advertisement, I get really emotional and start a whole rant about how good that movie looks. Justin Long is adorable, it just looks good, and it speaks to me, being in a semi-long distance relationship. But yeaaahh I really want to see it.

So anyways, I went to college this weekend. Yeah, scary. I was debating on what to wear for a move in day: I wanted to look fashionable and be functional at the same time, so why not a romper? And my new hat? Good, right? WRONG. My so-called romper, which isn't even on the Urban website anymore, RIPPED. The first time wearing it. FML. But it was a good thought so oh well. It's interesting, though, to see how other people dress (maybe a blog about that).

Onto the weekly looks:

• Drew Barrymore at the Going the Distance LA Premiere. To quote Rachel Zoe, I DIED when I saw this. DIED I TELL YOU. This Catherine  Malandrino is so incredible and that semi-studded belt is so fabulous. I’m not the biggest fan of the matching pumps but she seriously looks like a beachy diva goddess. Her jewels look great and I LOVE THIS.
• Kate Beckinsale at the Going the Distance Premiere also! I love this little black and white  Versace number. She took an  unexpected turn with a LWD. The black pockets are new and exciting. I think that Beckinsale always has spot on fashion so it was definitely a relief to see this. Although I wish her accessories pushed the envelope a bit more, she’s still STUNNING.
• Jessica Alba at the Machete  premiere. I LOVE THIS BALMAIN. Black and gold is such a typical color combination, but the zig-zag pattern really spiced it up. And the strappy shoes were strong enough to work with this dress and definitely sexed it up. I love love LOVED this combo. It was so fall which I was totally loving! 
• 08/27/2010- Celine “Look of the Day”. I love this look. The white turtle neck. I also love this juxtaposition of a rough fabric being tiered. Tiered dresses, in my opinion, are so flattering. I usually think Celine things are boring but I’m LOVING this. Usually, I hate minimalism, but I think this one is unique enough for it to work.
