The 2013 Academy Awards

Another year, another Oscar...or so it seemed. Though I unfortunately couldn't watch the televised event, this year's ceremony caused quite a stir. A falling Academy Award winner, a controversial tweet from The Onion and oh-so-cute Joseph Gordon Levitt dancing? Good or bad, this year definitely will not be forgotten. Same goes for the red carpet. While some starlets brought their A-game to the prestigious event, many should've thought twice before leaving their stretch limos. Shall we take a look at the best and worst looks from the night?

The Worst

Anne Hathaway (Prada): A far cry from Hathaway's award-worthy gowns, this Prada frock is less-than-impressive. Even if you have enough tolerance to look past the Miuccia- made "nipple exposure" and the unnecessary necklace (really, Rachel Zoe), this dress just doesn't compare to the high octane ensembles she's sported before-- let's not forget her eight epic ensembles from the 2011 Academy Awards. Winning the award for Best Supporting Actress was undeniably the biggest moment of her career thus far, yet she chose something so unremarkable (and quite boring). I personally dreamed a dream she wore something amazing to this red carpet. Unfortunately, I was left disappointed.

Jennifer Lawrence (Dior): I'm going to be honest: the dress is lovely albeit the fact that it's too editorial for the Academy Awards. With that in mind, the Oscar winning actress is on my worst dressed list because this look lacks practicality. In fact, all her outfits this season have resulted in some type of wardrobe malfunction. "This dress is really avant garde, will she have yet another mishap?" asked nobody on Lawrence's glam squad. Unlike Hathaway's minimalist nightmare, this ensemble is Oscar-approved; however, the Silver Linings Playbook star needs to learn how to wear dresses-- not the other way around.

Chris Tucker: The funnyman's tuxedo is looking a little clownish. However, nobody is laughing. Instead, this is just uncomfortable. While the suit's fit is fantastic, Tucker needs to learn that wide lapels and droopy bow ties are never okay.

Fan Bingbing (Marchesa): Though Georgina Chapman's craftsmanship is always inspiring, the styling is horrific.  The Marchesa number, plus the sparkling pink bracelets, plus the shocking lip plus the jeweled clutch equals a major fashion faux pas. A more minimalist approach to this dress would've been much better.

Kristen Stewart (Reem Acra): Considering this probably one of the very few times Kristen Stewart will be asked to attend the Academy Awards, this ensemble is beyond tragic. The starlet has the capacity to wow style elitists with her edgy aesthetic; however, this look is a tad sloppy. Personally, I don't love the tulle fripperies with the slender silhouette--the combination is too forced. And what's up with her hair and makeup? It seems as if the Twilight actress needs a good shower and a better makeup artist.

Halle Berry (Versace): Without a doubt, Berry is one of the most gorgeous ladies to grace this sacred red carpet. But she chose something so tacky, it's a little embarrassing. Though she's never a sartorial wallflower, this Versace number merits some unwanted attention. Actually, it's a little hypnotizing (and that's not a compliment). At 46 years-old, Berry looks fantastic; however, she's not getting any younger. I don't know about you, but I think it's time Berry starts making mature fashion decisions. Also, what is going on with this hair? I'm so over this chop.

Salma Hayek (Alexander McQueen): That hair.

Reese Witherspoon (Louis Vuitton): Once upon a time, Reese Witherspoon was a red carpet gem: she donned vintage Chanel and rocked Nina Ricci. But unfortunately, all good things must come to an end. Though I love how this electric blue looks with her sunny blonde hair, this dress is an absolute disaster. Is it just me or is this dress very unflattering? Also, this ensemble lacks a standout accessory. Where's the major cocktail ring or fantastic earrings?  Call me crazy, but it seems as if her style is at a standstill.

Helena Bonham Carter (Vivienne Westwood): Nobody should expect the Les Miserables star to wear a conventional dress--she's quirky! However, I cannot stand this ensemble. She just looks a little too sloppy for comfort. Note to all fashionistas: you just can't rock messy hair with an equally messy dress. Luckily, I have reason to believe that the actress threw on a pair of matching shoes.

Helen Hunt (H&M): No, Helen Hunt actually wore H&M.While I obviously believe that you can dress stylish on a budget, Hunt's defiant choice was just wrong. The color and silhouette are fine; however, can we talk about the wrinkles for a hot second? Seriously, who would go to the most glamorous televised event in a wrinkled dress? Cleanliness is key, Helen, cleanliness is key.

Samantha Barks (Valentino): Yet another sartorial strikeout for the Les Miserables cast. Barks clearly is obsessed with black, cleavage-baring  dresses; however, this is not appropriate for the Academy Awards. Honestly, it's all too basic. Between the simplistic silhouette and the messy hair, it looks as if Barks doesn't even care to be at the Academy Awards. And let's not ignore that necklace. If you're seeking to show off your...goodies, don't add a necklace! It's not sexy--it's just juvenile.

Nicole Kidman (L'Wren Scott): Though the Aussie plays a vixen in The Paperboy , this shimmering number is anything but sexy. On the contrary, Kidman is clearly trying a little too hard to return to her fashion glory days (a.k.a. when she was Mrs. Tom Cruise). While style is eternal, everyone will reach a certain age when wearing a sequined dress is a little sad. However, I am glad she ditched the middle part.

The Best

Adele (Jenny Packham): We all know that Adele could own any karaoke contest that comes her way; however,  the songstress is additionally turning into a style maven. Thankfully, the award winning musician resorted back to her trusty black dresses; however, she hasn't ditched her newfound impulsive for drama. First of all, the jeweled details are to die for. Also, the cropped sleeves reveal just the right amount of skin. And that retro half-up hair? J'adore.

Daniel Day Lewis (Domenico Vacca): Rarely does a male actor decide to have a red carpet moment at the Academy Awards. Usually, men don the traditional penguin suit as their leading ladies take center stage. But awards night was Daniel Day Lewis's night, and nobody puts Daniel Day Lewis in the corner. daring to be different, the Lincoln star opted for a blue suit. Though it sounds weird in theory, the high-voltage color is perfectly juxtaposed with the actor's poise and British charm.

Joseph Gordon Levitt: I may be a bit biased (since Joseph and I are clearly soulmates), but the  Lincoln star looked absolutely adorable at the Oscars. At his very first Academy Awards, the actor wore a standard tux. For a "Joseph Gordon Levitt" twist, he paired this typical suit with a long bow tie and his trusty "Hit Record" pin. I'm smitten.

Amanda Seyfried (Alexander McQueen): No stranger to show-stopping ensembles, the Les Miserables starlet was once again a sight for sore eyes. Sartorially speaking, that is. The embroidered dress is insanely classic, yet the keyhole offers the tiniest dash of sultry vixen. Not to mention Seyfried also nailed this look on the beauty front-- the dainty makeup and polished updo is everything. 

Octavia Spencer (Tadashi Shoji): The Help actress is absolutely radiant. The angelic  hue is perfectly combined with the heavenly asymmetrical shoulder. Perfectly paired with a feminine pink lip and uber glam earrings, Spencer was a sartorial force to be reckoned with.

Zoe Saldana (Alexis Mabille): Seriously, can this style savant do any wrong?  Though the dress lacks  cohesiveness-- the appliqued bodice is unconventionally paired with the multicolored hemline-- Saldana polishes this look with standard dangling earrings, fresh makeup and "fuss-free" locks. What I love about The Words star is that she always tries something new. A new texture, color or silhouette--we're never bored!

Amy Adams (Oscar de la Renta): The magic of Oscar claims yet another starlet-- Oscar de la Renta, that is.  From the innocent color palette to brilliantly executed tulle skirt, this look is nothing short of heavenly.While a darker hue would create a stunning contrast with Adams's light skin, I kind of love how the pale dress looks on the actress. Fabulous.  Thankfully, Adams paired the extravagant ensemble with a sleek updo and minimal jewels.

Eddie Redmayne (Alexander McQueen): Fashion girls everywhere are probably wishing that their future husband is Eddie Redmayne (or some sort of variation of the Les Miserables actor). While his good looks are sure to make anyone with a pulse swoon, it's his keen eye for style that has me imaging our very chic lives together (sorry Joseph Gordon Levitt, it's nothing personal). Not only is his tuxedo perfectly fitted, he is also wearing smoking loafers. Smoking loafers to the Oscars? It's crazy, but it totally works.  Be still my heart.

Charlize Theron (Dior): Though we all tend to roll our eyes at Theron's "J'adore Dior" commercial, I must say that the red carpet fixture and the fashion powerhouse create an unstoppable duo. The angelic hue and the sleek silhouette screams minimalism, but the peplum adds the perfect amount of glamour. Speaking of glamour, how much do you adore those glistening cuffs? Amaze. Though I wish her makeup was more dramatic, I must say that she's rocking the boyish haircut.

2012 MTV Movie Awards

If there are two things I'm disgustingly obsessed with, it's Russell Brand and Fun. As we all know by now, Fun is my favorite band- even before "We Are Young." And let's be honest: who doesn't love Russell Brand? I can happily say that I've read both his memoirs, own his comedy DVD, and cannot wait to see Rock of Ages. So obviously I was excited for the 2012 MTV Movie Awards. Let me just say that the fashion did not disappoint- there were some stellar looks and horrific ensembles that I couldn't have dreamed of if I tried. Ready for a crash-course in the red carpet? Let's hope you are!

The Worst

Shailene Woodley in Stella McCartney: I wish this wasn't on my worst dress list; however, I blame it all on Shailene's hair sylist. Stella's feminine pantsuit looks perfect on Shailene- the top's silhouette gives her a curvy figure while the bare back is super sexy. But that hair ruined everything. As she was accepting her award for "Best Breakout Star," I was too consumed by ill-styled locks...oh and how she kept saying "dude." It's not that the hair was "messy chic," it was literally falling apart. Major no-no. This just goes to show you how crucial your hairstyle can be. (Photo Cred)

Julianne Hough in Sally LaPointe: My heart is actually breaking. There is so much that's wrong with this ensemble, where to begin. The mid-drift? Ab-bearing ensembles are huge this season; however, it's all about proportion. Word from the wise: a crop top, regardless of the sleeves, with a mini skirt is tasteless. Speaking of that skirt, we should talk about that peplum. Wrong trend at the wrong time! No need to sport two edgy trends at once! It's like she's trying to overcompensate for the god-awful straightening job. I'm sure her outfits in Rock ofAges are chicer.  (Photo Cred)

Brooke Hogan: For once, I am genuinely speechless. Like, I'm tying to find the appropriate words to describe my feelings, but all of the phrases I can think of are painfully crass. And for that, I will refrain. But just know that this ensemble makes me sick to my stomach.(Photo Cred)

Though I don't like bashing Elizabeth Banks or Elie Saab,  it's my duty to teach them a valuable lesson. First of all, this jumpsuit scares me. Perhaps it's the detailing, but this playsuit reminds me of a spider. If this outfit wasn't disappointing enough, what is going on with Elizabeth's hair? Trust me, I love the fashion girl bun as much as the next stylista, but she looks way too serious. Lighten up  girl, it's an MTV awards show.(Photo Cred)

Josh Hutcherson: Sure, this is a terrible photograph, but maybe it'll help show you how horrid this ensemble is. Note to all single guys: drop the hipster hats. Baseball hats? Fine. Knit beanies? Cute. But these indie fedoras? Just stop. They make me uncomfortable and 99.9% of the time, you'll look like an idiot. If that wasn't enough, the proportions of this ensemble was just wrong. Too baggy in some places, but too tight in others (like the upper thigh/ crotch area). I'm concerned. This whole ensemble is also way too wrinkly. He would've been so much better with dark wash jeans and a light chambray. I should be Josh Hutcherson's stylist. Obviously. (Photo Cred)

ZZ Ward:Who are you and why do you look so terrible? For the record, both are serious questions. Stop me if I'm wrong, but all my research makes it seem as if she's wearing a navy suit with a black hat. While I love navy and black together, it looks like she's trying to make them look like one hue. So wrong! The key to mastering a black and navy ensemble is putting them right next to each other. That way, you're telling critics, "I have NOTHING to hide!" Also, what's with that shirt? Sure, I love Urban Outfitters as much as the next teen, but enough is enough!  (Photo Cred)

Lucy Hale in Catherine Malandrino: As much as I love Lucy Hale, and as much as I love color-blocking, this dress has to go. Nothing makes sense! Let's have a crash course in color-blocking, shall we? If you're rocking this colorful trend, make sure the rest of the accessories are neutral. While metallics can be considered neutral on special occasions, this is not one of those occasions.  The metallics and the various colors are competing with each other. A classic case of poor styling, if you will.(Photo Cred)

Nicky Hilton: I'm so confused right now. The dress screams "sweet sixteen," but those pointed shoes are uncomfortably matronly. On a side note, can we just reflect on how skeletal Nicky looks? I feel bad. (Photo Cred)

                     

Mila Kunis in Fendi: If I could have one sound effect to describe this ensemble, it'd be "belgh." This ensemble is either here nor there and a little too short for my liking. Speaking of the length, the hemline looks a little sloppy. It's not even that this dress is horrible: it's just that I expected better from Mila.(Photo Cred)

The Best

Charlize Theron in Lanvin: Though my friends and I found Snow White and the Huntsman to be boring and super long, I must say that I have a mild girl-crush on Charlize Theron. Not only is she a phenomenal actress, but she's always a red carpet staple. Fortunately, she ceases to amaze us. The ketchup red is gorgeous with her complexion and I love the peplum's wave-like effect. The down do and strappy sandals give this ensemble a dash of summery fun. But really, can you ever go wrong in Lanvin?  (Photo Cred)

Emma Stone in Martin Grant: Seriously, this is so flawless. I'm obsessed with the black and beige motif. While the matching shoes and ensemble may sound overbearing in theory, Stone plays with silhouettes to make this interesting. Sophistication hits the MTV Movie Awards as Stone finishes off this ensemble with a gorgeous updo and bright pink lip. This look has been criticized for looking too sophisticated, but would you rather have a million Brooke Hogans running around? (Photo Cred)

Emma Watson in Brood: If anyone can pull off a zany design and make it lovable, it's Emma Watson. Brood's quirky pattern and questionable peplums are deemed stylish through Watson's styling.The bold bracelets and tough, strappy sandals make this whole ensemble rocker chic. Let's be honest, Watson could wear a plastic bag and still be the coolest girl at the party. On a random side note, I just watched the trailer for her new film,  The Perks of Being a Wallflower, and died a little bit on the inside. (Photo Cred)

Kat Graham: Definitely my favorite of the night. She looks sophisticated and super trendy. Since her black gown is long-sleeved, and neither the v neck nor the high slit are too revealing, Graham looks sultry not slutty. The Style Correspondent's gilded accessories prevent another "Angelina's leg" moment by keeping this look fun and youthful (as opposed to overtly vixen). The neutral makeup, slicked back hair, and stunning platform sandals are perfect. Literally, perfect. (Photo Cred)

Chris Hemsworth in Hugo Boss: This is the perfect gentleman apparel for the MTV Movie Awards. Though the concept of the ensemble suggests an uber formal attire, the lack of a jacket is crucial- it makes him look like he's ready to have a good time. And where better than the 2012 MTV Movie Awards? All in all this outfit is relaxed, yet sophisticated. And it doesn't hurt that it's on Chris Hemsworth...(Photo Cred)

Janelle Monae: If you thought Monae was going to wear a dress, you're 110% wrong. What I love about Monae is how dedicated she is to her menswear-inspired style. Though her outfits have the same concept, she never bores us. The ankle hemline and punchy, pink lip gives us something to gush over. Hats off to that! (Photo Cred)

Andy Samberg:  I have this unspoken theory that Andy Samberg and I would make a lovely couple. Don't ask me why, but I have this irrational love for him. This love only deepens with this A+ outfits. To every, single man out there: this is what you should wear every, single day. The suit jacket and polo create a quirky combination; however, the monochromatism makes it acceptable. Samberg's fresh "kicks" gives this look a pop of color as well as a dash of youthfulness. Swoon city? A little bit.(Photo Cred)

The Style Files: Come and Take a Walk on the Wild Side

I may be a little behind, but I cannot get enough of this song. Lana Del Rey's "Born to Die" just makes me want to roll on a furry carpet and drown my thoughts in a bottle of wine. Weird? Get used to it.

Style Spiration: Jennifer Lawrence 

For me, this week was all about The Hunger Games. In true "me" form, I devoured the book just before the movie adaptation hits theaters this Friday. Needless to say, I'm extremely excited. Not to mention that the movie's superstar, Jennifer Lawrence has WOWED us at each Hunger Games premiere (more on that later). It really made me think about Jennifer Lawrence as a fashionista: this girl has ability to impress us at every single event. The girl on fire is literally on fire right now!

At the 2011 Academy Awards (Calvin Klein Collection): Though I'm not crazy for minimalism, Lawrence takes this simple dress and gives it a sultry twist. From the minimal jewels to the Farah-inspired hair, Lawrence makes this dress sexy and forces us to focus on how well her bod looks in this dress. But not in a creepy, slutty way.(Photo Cred)

At the 2011 Spirit Awards (Dolce and Gabbana): I'm obsessed with how ethereal this whole look is. The dainty lace works perfectly with her relaxed waves and that soft, pink lip. The Lorraine Schwartz bracelets not only give this look a pop of color, they also give a sense of personal style. And personal style is always in trend. (Photo Cred)

At the 2012 People's Choice Awards (Viktor & Rolf): Though I understand why some people may not love this dress, I'm obsessed with how the whimsical waves work the the mesh background. Since this dress is an artistic piece, minimal jewels and simple, black shoes are the perfect way to accessorize this outfit. The sleek ponytail and fierce eye makeup gives this look a hint of fashion forwardness.(Photo Cred)

The Weekly

• Jennifer Lawrence at The Hunger Games LA Premiere (Prabal Gurung): One of my all-time favorite looks, hands down. I love how the glamourous gold is juxtaposed with the sexy cutouts of this dress. The Jimmy Choo heels work really well with the geometric cutouts. I love when people pair an ultra light lip with a bold,sexy eye: to die for! The braided hair gives this look an unexpected  punch of natural femininity.
• Charlize Theron at the Hollywood Reporter's 25 Most Powerful Stylists party (Boy by Band of Outsiders): Although I usually associate Band of Outsiders with younger starlets and fashion fanatics, I love how this pleated dress looks on Theron. The deep V and pleats make this dress more exciting than your average LBD. Thankfully, the strappy sandals rationalize the lack of jewels. The sporty ponytail makes this look refreshing.
• Jennifer Lawrence at the The Hunger Games Paris Premiere (Tom Ford): As you can see, the Jennifer Lawrence girl crush continues. She successfully pulls off a backless dress: the gapping around her back is flattering, but it doesn't look ill-fitted. I love how the gold piping of the dress matches her gold sandals. Fashion forward, yet cohesive. The sleek, straight hair plus a red lip? No words. 
• Miranda Kerr in Manhattan (Marni, Nobody jeans, Louis Vuitton, Tabitha Simmons): As much as I love red carpet glamour, I'm such a sucker for unique street style. The mostly black ensemble makes the Marni coat and Louis Vutitton work together  to create a feminine dose of edge, not compete against each other. For a model "off duty" vibe, Kerr keeps her hair super straight and adds a casual pair of aviators.
• Michelle Williams promoting My Week with Marilyn in Tokyo (Alexander McQueen): Yes, this look is rather plain; however, it's Williams' aesthetic. The draping and silhouette of this white dress is angelic and the bold lip give us a much needed dose of glamour. Although it's understated, I kind of like it: the simplicity of this look allows Williams' true beauty to shine through. You must admit that she's channeling her inner Marilyn.

The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

No, the most wonderful time of the year is not Christmas. Silly fashionistas and stylish suaves, the most wonderful time of the year is award season. Hooray, it's finally here! While some people have been super stoked for the big football weekend, I've been counting down the hours until the Golden Globes' red carpet. If you live under a rock, let me make this easy for you: I love the Golden Globes and will always love the Golden Globes most. Well, besides the Met Ball. Anywho, I love the creativity and the collaboration between film and television. This year, I went really hard-core and had my own fashion predictions. For some, I was spot on. Others, well...nobody's perfect.

My Predictions:

• Fabulous silhouettes and barely any column dresses: On the spring runways, we saw so many gorgeous silhouettes a la old school Balenciaga: Alexander McQueen, Oscar de la Renta, etc.
• Color, color, color: If you saw the Elie Saab spring runway, you'll understand this prediction. 
• Sparkle and art-deco: Gucci had some absolutely fabulous sparkled numbers as well as de la Renta's pre-fall show.

What Really Happened...

• Neutrals: This took me by surprise, but black, white, and nude stole the show.  Actresses like Mila Kunis, Charlize Theron, Kate Beckinsale, and Julianne Moore all strutted down the carpet in these hues.
• Sparkles: Spot on, yes? Thank you Salma Hayek and Evan Rachel Wood for helping me out here.
• Volume galore: So much volume it made me so happy! Stars like Sarah Michelle Gellar,  Julianne Moore, and Elle Macpherson ditched the column silhouette.

Now that the trend report is in, it's all about the best and worst dressed.  And leave it to me to give you my honest opinion. All in all, it was a fabulous red carpet and there were so many looks that I loved. 

THE WORST 

• Lea Michele (Marchesa): Well the impossible happened: a Marchesa dress looking horrific. I love Georgia Chapman and everything she does at Marchesa, but this truly looked terrible on Lea. I don't really think this was the right person or place to be wearing this dress. Also, I hate Lea Michele's diva-status: she needs to be tamed. She's not Beyonce and she cannot wear this. Beyonce could.
• Missi Pyle (Junko Yoskioka): Honestly, this looks like a dumb prom dress that's on clearance. I hate that bow and the tulle-esque layering. This is too cheesy I don't even want to blog about this anymore.  A waste of fabric. And it's not even styled right! 
• Kelly Osbourne (Zac Posen): I think my mom hit the nail on the head when she said that Kelly Osbourne was trying to look like Carolina Herrera. This dress would've look beautiful on Helen Miren, but Kelly Osbourne? She's purposely aging myself and I don't know why. Besides, what's up with that lavender-gray hair? Disgusting. 
• Kristen Wiig (Bill Blass): I love Kristen Wiig; however, I hate this look. While I love the nude with her chocolate brown locks, the jewels are way too bold.  It's just look like she's trying way too hard, which I don't like.
• Amanda Peet (Mac Jacobs): This is definitely not Globes-worthy. The ruffles are not chic in the slightest and the accessories are so primitive.  However, this would be great for a picnic! 
• Mary J.Blige (Michael Kors): Re-pul-sive. Yes, the halter looks fabulous on her, but what's with those feathers? Maybe this dress would look good on someone else- I'm thinking Zoe Saldana- but it's just not working with Mary J. What about jewels overload? Diaster. It's just too much of terrible things.
• Reese Witherspoon (Zac Posen): Don't get me wrong: I love Reese and I love love LOVE Zac, but this was not a good fit. The silhouette isn't too flattering and would look much better on a taller woman. Also, where is the styling? The makeup is barely there, and not in a good way.  Jewels? Where are they? I would love a killer bracelet or gorgeous earrings. Nothing! It could've been a million times better.
• Madonna (Reem Acra): No, just no. It was all so good until the skirt. The dress would've been fabulous if it was completely metallic or completed flapped fabric. But both? Not working. Also, the cross is way too big and looks a little cheesy. 
• Elle Macpherson (Zac Posen): She is so beautiful; however, Elle needs a new stylist. I'm actually confused as to how someone would think the chintzy jewels would look good with this dress. There's too much going on to even respect Zac Posen's creativity and construction.  She should've had minimal jewels- preferably a cocktail ring- and a soft updo.  Too much of everything, way too much. Major disappointment.
• Julie Bowen (Reem Acra): No, Julie Bowen, no. She literally kicked fashion-tushy at the Emmys; however, this is too much. The dress is alright, but it was styled completely wrong. I understand where her hair stylist was coming from, but the Lucy-inspired curls are awkward: a soft updo would have been a million times better. 
• Sarah Michelle Gellar (Monique Lhuillier): She told Ryan Seacrest that her daughter picked out this dress. Well, SMG, you should probably find a stylist.  I love her new show, Ringer, but this is the worst look of the night, by far. The tie-dye print was disgusting, especially with that extravagant silhouette. And what's up with that pony tail? You're not in junior high anymore.

THE BEST 

• Emma Stone (Lanvin): I was so excited to see Emma on the red carpet and she did not disappoint.  That silhouette works so well on her and that plum-raspberry duo is fantastic. The black clutch and shoes kept this look super clean. Also, the smokey eyes are incredible. My only problem with this look is that it's super similar to the Lanvin ensemble she wore to the Glamour event in November.  A different silhouette would've been preferred, but I'm not complaining! 
• Kate Beckinsale (Roberto Cavalli): There's nothing wrong about this look, I'm so impressed. It's unbelievably flattering and the jewels overload works with this dress because the dress is so simple. Plus the hair and makeup? I can't even deal with how perfect his is. 
• Jessica Biel (Elie Saab): Is it weird that I love this? Nope? Good. The high neck and long sleeves works so well with the high slit. The detailing on this dress is gorgeous. To prevent the dress from washing her out, the long hair and pink are perfect.
• Piper Perabo (Theyskens' Theory): This is one of those looks that you try so hard to hate, but secretly love. Well, it's no secret any more: I'm obsessed with this look. The updo is absolutely gorgeous and the volume of that dress? I'm literally going insane looking at it. The dress is so dramatic, yet super clean. The makeup is super feminine, making the dress standout without being abrasive.  
• Melissa McCarthy (Badgley Mischka): She looks absolutely beautiful! I love that green with her complexion and eye color. Also, this dress was really flattering on her. Adorable. 
• Sarah Hyland (Vintage Dolce& Gabbana): Definitely Sarah Hyland's best look ever. She is the epitome of old-school Hollywood glam here. The dress is absolutely gorgeous on her and I love that mid-forearm bracelet. The feminine makeup and soft up-do is ideal. 
• Ariel Winter (Dolce &Gabbana): Um, how precious does she look? This girl is only thirteen; however, she's so glam. This funky skirt, especially in purple, is super chic on her. I'm borderline obsessed with those loafer-inspired pumps. The soft waves? Divine.  It's youthful, it's quirky, and I love it.
• Mila Kunis (Dior): The new face of Dior wore her label proud last night.  She played with color so much last year, so I'm really glad that she toned it down here. However, the asymmetrical strap and the quasi-sheer bodice gives this dress the spice that it needs.  The minimal jewels and sleek hair makes this look absolutely classic.
• Natalie Portman (Lanvin): Once upon a time, someone once said that Natalie Portman was our generation's Audrey Hepburn. After seeing this look, I have to agree. The first thing I thought of, besides how fabulous this is, was Audrey. To me, this Lanvin-especially on her- is such a mix of her Funny Face and Sabrina dresses. The hair and minimals jewels are phenomenal. So classic. 
• Jessica Alba (Gucci): Beyond gorgeous. I think this light lavender- or at least it looks like lavender- looks perfect with her bronzed skin. I'm obsessed with the glitz and gorgeous, simple train. The monochromatic accessories is right on. 
• Rooney Mara (Nina Ricci): Although I'm not too crazy about her hair from a side angle, I'm obsessed with this look. It's all about the small details that make this look phenomenal. The cutouts plus the back peplum? Do I even need to describe how effortlessly chic is this? The slicked back hair and minimal jewels make this look clean and simple. By the way, loving the subtle cat-eye! 
• Heidi Klum (Calvin Klein): Although this look is a little too summery, I'm obsessed. Heidi always does a very dramatic look and a crazy updo. On the contrary, this look is more simple, which I love. the peach plus the gorgeous blue equals amazing. Also, I love love LOVE casual, down hair. Easy, clean, and gorgeous! 
• Dianna Agron (Giles): Definitely a redemption from that Emmys- mess. The silhouette is outstanding and that detailing? Incredible.  The swans and the ruffles are so fabulous and the red lip is perfect. The minimal jewels and the sleek hair keeps the focus on this fantastic dress.
• Salma Hayek (Gucci) : I will describe this look as "movie-star Jenny from the Block." The sparkles and the column silhouette equals perfection, especially paired with the "movie-star Jenny from the Block" curls.  The earrings give this look the perfect amount of glamour without going overboard. The simple makeup brings this diva look back down to Earth.
• Charlize Theron (Dior): As  Charlize says in her commercial, "J'adore Dior." The plunging neckline, plus the high slit, plus the extra hip fabric? Perfection. On most people, I'd hate this. However, Charlize has this certain sophistication and glamour that makes this look seem effortlessly chic. While I hated Michelle Williams' headband, I loved the headband look on Charlize.  Because Charlize can pull off anything, obviously. 
• Zooey Deschanel (Custom Prada): This is definitely one of my favorite looks of the night. The colored bodice is perfectly coupled with the basic, black skirt. The 60's inspired hair cut is to die for, especially with the feminine makeup. Ugh, she's adorable. 
• Sofia Vergara (Vera Wang): Fabulous. Sofia definitely has a certain silhouette that works for her body; however, her styling is improving:  more sophisticated and clean. This navy color is phenomenal and I love  the bunched fabric on the dress' skirt: so flattering! On a side note, how much do you love how Sofia says "Vera Wang." I always know this hysterical lady will be sporting "Verda Wong." 
• Claire Danes (J. Mendel): This dress is number one in my mind.  I'm literally going crazy over this dress. This is the perfect mix of glamourous and edge. All of the different textures truly made this dress a show-stopper. The hair and perky pink lip gave this look a hint of femininity.  Like can we just look at how incredible this is:

The Style Files: When I Was Young, I Took off Running

So last week, my friend and I went to see Matt Nathanson and Vanessa Carlton at the House of Blues. It was beyond amazing: Matt Nathanson is one of my absolute favorites and Vanessa Carlton's performance gave me a nice walk down memory lane. After the concert, I couldn't stop listening to "Drop to Hold You." I was never a big fan of this song until I heard it live. Now, I'm literally obsessed.

STYLE-SPIRATION: HAILEE STEINFELD

I've said it before and I've said it again, Hailee Steinfeld is the next style icon.  Her style is so edgy, chic, and youthful. At the same time!  Incredible. 

Hailee Steinfeld at the 2011 Golden Globe Awards (Prabal Gurung): It's just SO COOL. The crimped detailing of the Gurung dress is so hip, but the halter silhouette keeps it classy. I love how she has fun with her accessories: the clutch and bangles are super funky, which is so unusual for an awards show! (Photo Cred)

At the 26th Annual Santa Barbara Film Festival (Alberta Ferretti): I usually hate red accessories; however, I'm so smitten with this look. The lace on that Ferretti dress is GORGEOUS, yet the short hemline keeps it young. Besides the red shoes and clutch- phenomenal, by the way- she keeps the hair and makeup simple which is a STYLE DO. (Photo Cred)

At Miu Miu Fall RTW 2011 (Miu Miu): This look is so glamorous:  I just wish I was her. The dress is beautiful and classic. But, in true Hailee style, she spices this look up with awesome shoes and a super fierce clutch. That sleek ponytail? Incredible.(Photo Cred)

I kind of hate how she's younger than me, yet she still has the best style. Now, onto the weekly! 

THE WEEKLY

• Amber Heard at the premiere for The Rum Diary (Elie Saab): Well, this is the epitome of old school vixen. She looks absolutely incredible. The dress is outstanding and the high silt is sexy without crossing the line. The up-do keeps this look classy, which I love. I'm really glad she didn't accessorize this look very much: the lack of jewels keeps the focus on the amazing silhouette. 
• Rose Byrne at CAA's Young Hollywood Party (Manning Cartell): I'm obsessed with Byrne's bohemian vibe. The way her bob juxtaposes the tiered skirt and cross-body bag is genius! I do wish she had cooler shoes, since she didn't have funky jewels. Regardless, this look is lovely! 
• Charlize Theron at an Africa Outreach Project event (Dior): Unbelievable. This sheath is so classic; however, the detailing gives such a classic silhouette some funk. The accessories are intricate, yet they don't overpower this awesome dress. Keeping her hair and makeup simple is also a major STYLE DO. Fabulous!
