The Style Files: We Can Make it Right, Hit the City Lights

Last weekend, my friends and I had a mini Michael Jackson tribute. Ever since then, I can't stop listening to "P.Y.T." I couldn't tell you why I'm obsessed with this song, but I am. Michael Jackson will always be the King of Pop.

STYLE-SPIRATION: NICOLE RICHIE

Say what you will about her, but I love Nicole Richie. She was hilarious on The Simple Life- I almost forgot about that show- and has made an incredible transformation from a sloppy mess, no offense, to a hip fashionista. This is what Lifetime movies are made out of, people! For this edition, I thought it'd be super fun to chronicle her amazing metamorphosis. 

2003: This is borderline painful. First of all, that hemline? WAY TOO SHORT. I'm all for a punk-inspired shoe, but with this outfit? A major STYLE DON'T. I don't like how monochromatic the scarf-slash-dress situation is. And that bag? This is actually tragic. (Photo Cred)

At the Maxim Hot 100 Party in 2005: Clearly, this was the start of  "Scary-Thin" Richie; however, the styling of this look is a huge improvement. Obviously, this was the era of Richie and Zoe. The silhouette, though plain, is more ladylike than that situation Richie previously wore. The fierce snakeskin shoe acts as a neutral, which is fabulous. Her hair and makeup gives her an approachable vibe. Kind of plain, though. (Photo Cred)

At the Charlotte Ronson RTW Fall 2006 Show: This look is okay. She attempts rocking funky accessories; however, the look is still a little primitive. This look would be a million times better if she stuck to black.  For the record, I wanted the Fendi Spy Bag SO bad when I was younger. (Photo Cred)


2008: Ugh, so stellar! The print is so bohemian; however, the black and white color combination makes this dress ladylike at the same time. The summery cutouts and the empire waist flatter her body by giving her a little more shape. Also, the gold accessories are the perfect way to spice up a black and white look. (Photo Cred)



At the 2010 MET Ball (Marc Jacobs): Love this look so much! Although the silhouette is simple, the sparkle of the  dress really gives this look a "wow" factor. Keeping the accessories simple was incredibly smart of her.  And the long locks gives this look the quintessential Nicole Richie boho-chic flair!  (Photo Cred)


 2011- At a Sephora/ Charlotte Ronson Event (A Solid Mix of McQueen, Kate Winter, Louboutin, and House of Harlow): While this look doesn't really portray her boho chic aesthetic, I think it proves that she's really changed. The sleek ponytail and the strong lines on the coat makes this look modern while the bag- I'm obsessed with that bag- creates juxtaposition, which I love. I also love how Richie wears things from her own line. If they're cool enough for Nicole Richie, who wouldn't want to purchase those pieces?

THE ANTI-WEEKLY
Oh yes, ladies and gent, the Anti-Weekly is back! While there were some fabulous looks from this week, there were other looks that really rubbed me the wrong way. Since I'm a sassy one, an Anti-Weekly was an obvious decision.

• Leighton Meester at the Jimmy Choo Icon Collection Launch (Jason Wu): This is so hideous, it makes me feel uncomfortable. First of all, her hair looks like a TERRIBLE wig. I love Leighton Meester, but she needs to fix that horrible hair. And what's with the sheer blouse? Sure, sometimes showing your bra is appropriate: frat parties, strip clubs, Vegas, etc.  This is not one of those times. Nothing says unsexy more than a blouse and mid-thigh skirt. I think she was trying to pull off the sexy librarian look, but failed miserably. And those shoes? They don't even work with this look! Just horrible.
• Jennifer Aniston at the Elle Women Tribute in LA (Kaufman Franco): I'm totally "Team Jen;" however, this dress makes her look like a sagging Hollywood has-been. She's so beautiful and this dress doesn't do her justice: she's trying too hard! A nice sheath, straightened hair, and a killer accessory would have been sufficient. In my opinion, this is unflattering- look at the midsection- and disgusting.

The Style Files: Perfection of Your Face Slows Me Down

So this week, my friends- especially my roommie- and I have been going CRAZY over Maroon 5. Specifically, "Never Gonna Leave This Bed." I'm borderline obsessed with the music video for three reasons:

1. Adam Levine is gorgeous.
2. The concept is adorable.
3. I love Wayfrarers on guys...yes that is one of my reasons.

STYLE-SPIRATION: JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE

Recently, I've developed this theory that Justin Timberlake is the most perfect person...ever. Don't believe me? Well let's look at the facts: he's beautiful, 6'1 (according to my findings), can sing, can dance, can act, is extremely funny and successful. Did I mention he also has a killer sense of style. Yes ladies and gent, I'm continuing this boy crazy extravaganza with J.T. as this week's style-spiration. 

J.T. at the WilliamRast Spring 2007 RTW Show. Call me old fashion, but I cannot resist a guy in a sweater vest. Unless it's an old man who looks like he's up to no good.  I love how J.T. used the sweater vest a neutral and experiment with different patterns, as seen in the tie and button-down. While I'm not loving the vans, I love how Justin is never afraid to experiment with clothes. He is my dream man. (Photo Cred)

J.T at Cartier's 100th Anniversary. He looks...SO GOOD. I love this three piece suit: it's so classic, but edgy with his subtle scruff. The combination of grey and black makes this look funky and sophisticated. Ugh. Why can't I marry him? (Photo Cred)

 J.T. at the 2009 Met Ball in WilliamRast. HE EVEN DOES A FORMAL TUX BETTER THAN ANY GUY. SERIOUSLY, WHAT'S NOT TO LOVE?! The bow tie- lapel proportions are spot on and he looks uberchic. Those glasses make him look intellectual and trendy. Only man who reads this blog, listen up: THICK RIMMED GLASSES ARE A STYLE DO. I'm so glad he broke up with Jessica Biel. (Photo Cred)

THE WEEKLY

• Rachel Zoe at the Christian Dior show (I'm assuming Dior):  This look is perfect for Paris Fashion Week. The black and white is so flawlessly chic. While the white dress is pretty plain; however, the maxi factor, as well as the belt, gives the look some drama. And those sunglasses? Amazing. Haters gon' hate, but I idolize her.
• Lady Gaga at iHeartRadio (I want to know): I'm literally obsessed with this look, even though it's not very Gaga-esque. The costume jewels as well as the silhouette of this outfit make the look creative enough for Lady Gaga to wear. She looks so glamourous and chic. 
• Leighton Meester at Dior also (I'm assuming Dior as well): LOVE LOVE LOVE this LWD. The tiers on the dress make this look really girly; however, the pumps gave this look some edge. Her hair and makeup? So feminine and beautiful. I love this look.
• Miranda Kerr chilling in Paris (I don't have ay designers for this blog post): This is perfect Parisian street style. The toughness of the leather skirt and the softness of the shirt is the PERFECT juxtaposition. Her makeup is clean and feminine. This look is simple and all around glam.

The Style Files: I Can Barely Breathe, Near Your Features

This week, my fabulous friend introduced me to this song and I haven't stopped listening to it since. It's upbeat but still very hip. I hope you enjoy it.

STYLE-SPIRATION

Lately, I've been so busy I can barely breathe, but I will say that I successfully devoured Bazaar's September Issue this morning. I became instantly intrigued by Julie Macklowe when I saw her "A Fashionable Life" spread. The woman owns some of the McQueen from Savage Beauty. In the profile, she said that her life isn't the most casual, which I can relate to/ admire. So this week's style spiration goes to Julie Macklowe and to not being casual!

At the 2009 Costume Institute Gala (Oscar de la Renta). I'm so into this look. The dress is very extravagant and fairytale esque; however, she kept the accessories very simple slash completely nonexistent. Gorgeous. (Photo Cred)

At a YSL event (I have no idea who the designer is). I love how her shoes and clutch match perfectly; however, they are not annoyingly matchy-matchy. The detailing of the dress is beyond incredible and the simplicity of her accessories are the perfect counterpart. Definitely not casual! (Photo Cred)

I completely understand why casual looks are essentially to our well being and the world of fashion, but there's nothing like putting on a stellar outfit. It's just a boost of confidence

• Leighton Meester at the Toronto Film Festival (Alexander McQueen): Even though McQueen created this gorgeous dress, this whole look is so Ralph Lauren, don't you think? I love the simplicity and cleanliness of the hair, dress, makeup, belt, and even the clutch. Those leopard shoes are the perfect pop! If this look could speak, it would say: "Oh, hey. What's up? POW!" STYLE DO: try pops of prints! I always love her effort to try something new. Sometimes, it doesn't work; however, she totally aced it this time! 
• Beyonce in NYC (Michael Kors):How many pregnant people do you know who would wear this? Nobody? Yes? She looks flawless and fierce as always, even when she has baby Jay in her belly! The completely black ensemble is perfect because it really points focus at the amazing cut-out situation. Can Beyonce really do any wrong?
• Emma Roberts at Stone Rose Lounge (Marchesa): I'm actually going crazy for this dress. The silhouette and hemline is so feminine; however, the soft leopard print makes this dress a little more current. That beaded belt is quirky, but surprisingly works for this look. She kept the rest of the look pretty classic, accessory wise. But can I just say that the soft updo is PERFECTION with this dress. 

Also, I'm so excited for the Emmy's tonight! I'm thinking sleek silhouettes and pops of color!

The Style Files: Legends of the Often Forgotten Gossip Girl

This summer, my friends and I have been obsessed with seeing every movie in theaters, basically. Just this week ,we  saw Larry Crowne -don't see it unless you're retired- and the ever-so-youthful Monte Carlo. While sitting in the movie theater, cooing at its predictability, I could not get over how stellar Leighton Meester's wardrobe was in the movie. You would think that Selena Gomez, being the star and all, would roam around Europe in fabulous clothes. Instead, she looked like your average teenager; Leighton really stole  the stage.

I feel in love with Meester's look above. A peach dress is extremely difficult for many to pull off; however, she does it with such glamour. The olive belt really breaks up the peach, which ultimately helps this look. Can we say "Audrey Hepburn in Roman Holiday?" Even in Gossip Girl, she always scores the best looks. Eric Daman always styles Blake Lively so she looks sexy, but Leighton Meester always looks classy and  chic: Daman presents the women we all-secretly-want to be in the form of a petite brunette fashionista.

In fact, it's almost bothersome how Leighton Meester doesn't get enough credit for her daring looks. Don't get me wrong, I love Blake Lively's style and the fact she doesn't have a stylist is incredible; however, Leighton Meester is always innovative and, as a result, she always receives negative press for her choices. In an angry fury, I've decided to finally give Leighton Meester some of the style credit she deserves. Sure she has a plethora of fashion faux paus, but nobody can neglect the fact that she has the guts to try looks that very few would try.

The Met Ball circa 2009: This is going to be a challenge to defend, but I'm up for it. I'm going to be honest with you: this is a terrible look for the red carpet, much better on the runway. However, this look is fun and creative enough for the MET Ball. I've said this before and I'll say forevermore, the MET Ball is all about creativity, innovation,  and making fashion fun. Meester did exactly that at the MET Ball but, as a result, gets negative press for it. I understand why mainstream media wouldn't be crazy about this look since it is, well, weird; however, she's doing something nobody else- except for Lady Gaga- would do. Yes, she may not rock every single look, she has a consistent fearlessness that's inspiring. (Photo Cred)

Meester at an American Ballet Company Gala: This isn't typical Meester style but I  still love it. This chocolate Valentino is such a beautiful alternative to overrated black. I love the draping and the effortless sleeves. She spiced this look up just right with that embellished clutch. LOVE. Her hair and makeup looks incredible also, but when do I not say that? Anyways, I love how she knows what kind of look is appropriate at different occasions, which I admire. This look also proves how versatile her looks can be. Sometimes I feel like we get the same thing over and over with Blake Lively: something that shows off her body, beach waves for hair, and a light lip and a smoky eye for makeup. With Leighton; however, we can constantly ask ourselves, "What is she going to wear?" And that's what fashion is about: anticipating the unexpected. I'm making a lot of fashion generalizations in this blog, but I hope they can serve as some source of inspiration. (Photo Cred)

Leighton out and about:  What I love about this look is how it's both attainable and very fashion forward. The sheer playsuit is super fun, especially for the summer or even the fall; however, it's nothing  unattainable. I'm sure we could all find a piece like this at Urban Outfitters or  Topshop. While I think the while bag isn't great with this, I would personally opt for a cross-body satchel,  I love the mustardish gold heels with this playsuit: it adds instant glam without overbearing. Obviously, celebrities aren't going to be dressed in haute-couture as they run errands, but Leighton looks just as fabulous in her street style! I'm sorry, but when do we ever see Blake Lively in street clothes? Hardly ever.  (Photo Cred)

Leighton at the Fall 2010 Couture Chanel show: The greatest thing about the fashion industry is the incessant ned for  rule-breaking.  The mix of the toughie-leather dress- Chanel, I presume-with that beautifully glamourous necklace is such a rule breaker. Where's the consistency? Nowhere, but I love it. I know that  I can never define my personal style in a simple word or phrase, so I love how she's admitting, "I can't either, but that's okay" with this outfit. Not to mention that I love the half up and the smokey eyes!   (Photo Cred)


Writing this post made be upset for Leighton Meester. Why doesn't she have an in with Anna Wintour? Why doesn't she have a contract with Chanel? Though I must say those pictures are beyond gorgeous. And Why doesn't Leighton Meester get to stroll around with Christian Louboutin? I do like Blake Lively; however, sometimes, life just isn't fair.

Well on that depressing note, onto the weekly!

THE WEEKLY:

• Anne Hathaway at the Valentino Couture Show (Valentino): Call me crazy, but there's something about this look that I really like, which is weird because I usually hate those sheer dresses. I think it's the subtle polka dot design that makes transparency less offensive While I think the brooch looks kind of dumb on the dress, I do think that the other styling tactics make you forget about the sheer dress: the casual waves and girly makeup take the focus away from the skirt of the dress and aim it more towards the face. The matching black pumps makes this look more seamless, as if Anne is saying, "Yes, my dress is sheer but just focus on the look as a whole." I think adding a long necklace would give this dress a cool vintage look, and it would also incorporate more jewels, but the chained bag is pretty cool with it too and gives the same kind of vibe. If this look didn't have that "old school" vintage vibe, I would probably hate it. But, due to the dainty polka dots and the bags, makes me think that everyone should respect this look more, which I guess isn't the most logical opinion, but let's roll with it. See, guys, it really wasn't that bad!
• Emma Watson at the tearful Harry Potter premiere (Oscar de la Renta): I, being not a Potter fanatic, heard the premiere was happening and decided to check out pictures from it. When I saw this look, my jaw literally dropped and let out a huge "ohmygod." Then I frantically texted my friend, Deb, an extreme Potter fan,  and told her I loved the dress. This look was literally heaven on the red carpet. I really hope you don't think I'm being dramatic, because I'm not. It was really that amazing. The detailing and the color scheme was so majestic and the perfect thing for Emma to wear to such an epic premiere. It fit her like a glove and was just as whimsy as the whole Potter industry. The sleek hair is the perfect foil to the uber-dramatic dress and the makeup is girly and fresh. Although I wish she had a cocktail ring or a simple bracelet on, nobody can deny this look is awesome. More than awesome, perfect.
• Pippa Middleton strolling around Londontown (a plethora of designers): Whenever I see pictures of the Royal family, the outfits are so manicured and, well, perfect. I know that Pippa's place in the Royal- doesn't it seem like royal should be capitalized- family isn't as prominent as Catherine's, but I'm so thrilled that she is rocking such a cool and casual look. It humanizes her, which I love. As  for the look, very summertime-toughie chic! The leather jacket paired with the printed dress is perfect for the summer time. Matching it with black flats, instead of sandals, gives the look a polished appearance without looking too mature. It's an eclectic look; however, it also effortlessly flows as a cohesive look. Love! 

Well, that was a lot of fun. While writing this, I got an awesome new idea for another post so I'll be writing again soon!

A Nice Slew of Events

I really do feel like a jerk for not having a weekly, but is it humanly possible to blog when you're in such a beautiful setting?

Needless to say, the Hamptons were beyond fabulous. Incredible food, fabulous friends, and the best memories. I did walk away from the elitist world as an owner of a vintage smoker's jacket, which will obviously be blogged about later. I'm not kidding. My not so glamorous return left me with many things to blog about. Resort collections and red carpet, just to name a few.

So for both your and my entertainment, I've decided to create a combo pack of red carpets into one blog. I know, pretty intense.

2011 MTV Movie Awards 

I'm extremely glad I didn't watch these awards because I probably would've started a riot since Kristen Stewart beat Natalie Portman. Did The Rapture come because that's just not right . Not in the slightest. In terms of red carpet looks, they were interesting...

THE WORST

• Selena Gomez (Giambattista Valli): Extremely disappointed. Selena always looks like such a rockstar and always gets on my Best list. Not this time, ladies and gents. Her hair and makeup looks great; however, her outfit isn't doing anything for me. No swooning. No nothing. I like the runway version better: the relaxed sandals and the white on white combination create a beachy and effortless look. The styling of Selena's adaptation was very confused, in my humble opinion. It seemed like she was trying to be a beach cutie, but then the heels made it too dressed up. I don't know, it just wasn't great.
• Ryan Reynolds (I don't want to know): Everyone loves Ryan Reynolds, it's essentially a fact of life. But what I hated was this outfit. I know the MTV Movie Awards don't require a Simon Spurr or Tom Ford tux, but this was way too casual. He kind of looked like an old man who was chilling in his log cabin. This may be quasi acceptable if this was a "chillin'-out-maxin'-out-relaxin'-all-cool" look, but I think he should have been a bit fancier than this. Like a blazer, jeans, and tee? Sexy.
• Blake Lively (Michael Kors): On the contrary, I hated Blake Lively's outfit because, besides the minimalism, it was way too serious for the MTV Movie Awards. Silk back hair and a simple dress. Chic? Yes. Appropriate? No. I also hated the purple Louboutins with the cobalt Kors dress. If you're going to add a pop of color, it should be a complementary color or something in a different color family. Or a simple cheetah print! Jeez. I think she would've looked stunning with beachy hair or even a maxi dress. 
• Nina Dobrev (Georges Chakra Couture): As much as I love jewel tones, I really did not like this dress. The hemline was too fancy and matronly for a young starlet, like her, to wear to these awards. At the same time, the bows are so...immature. Very confusing. Not a fan.
• Jessica Szhor (Alice&Olivia By:Stacey Bendent): This is the worst look I've seen in the longest time. SHE'S ON GOSSIP GIRL! ERIC DAMAN NEEDS TO STYLE HER. The worst. That is all. 
• Aimee Tegarden (Alice&Olivia By: Stacey Bendent); I think that Alice&Olivia needs to fire Stacey Bendent because this dress is also terrible. It seriously looks like she was tye-dying in her backyard, found out her original dress was ruined, and then threw on this. To make matters worse, she did not accessorize at all. That is one of my biggest fashion faux paus. Of course some outfits don't require many accessories, but a wearing clothes isn't fashion until you style it and make it your own. No jewels and not even a cute pair of shoes. SHAME!
• Amanda Bynes (Nobody knows because the designer is too embarrassed): There's a chance this could be worse than Jessica Szhor's look. This dress is disgusting and terribly unflattering and these shoes are not a good mix with this dress. The accessories are terrible. I don't even want to talk about this anymore. Now, I'm just getting mad.

THE BEST:

• Emma Watson (Marchesa): Two things I love in the fashion world; Emma Watson and Marchesa. And when they join forces, it's so lovely! As always, Emma looks like a goddess. I love how the top of the summer dress is so detailled; however, the rest of the white dress is so simple. The silver shoes tie the whole look together.  She always makes a statement by keeping it classy. And the hair and makeup is fabulous. It also looks like she's wearing an upper-arm bracelet. If so, I'm so smitten with it! Amazing all around! 
• Emma Stone (Bottega Veneta):  One word: gorgeous. Usually, it's really hard for redheads to rock warm oranges, yellows, and red. But evidently, Emma Stone is the exact opposite. This is amazing! I think the black lace that lays on top of the orange makes this an easier look for her to pull off. Maybe this look is a little textbook fashion- it's all very matchy matchy- but I love it. I'm glad she didn't accessorize too much, the lace with a plethora of jewels could be extremely overbearing! Her hair and makeup, as well as the whole look, is fresh and youthful. J'adore.
• Leighton Meester (Balmain): I wish that she wore a platform pump, but I'm literally obsessed with this dress. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Balmain is so dependable for uberchic minis. The details of this dress literally blows my mind and I think her hair and makeup look incredible. This is one of those situations where accessories would cheapen this look. She is literally wearing art and I'm so jealous.
• Reese Witherspoon (Zac Posen): What I love most about Reese Witherspoon is her ability to always dress her age, but a chic version of her age. Maybe she went a little too far by bashing the Kardashians and other young starlets, but you can't deny that she looks beyond fabulous. The asymmetry, not to mention the print, of this Posen dress was so refreshing; however, the hemline of her dress kept it classy. And I loved the shoes!  I really think everyone should invest in a good pair of nude pumps, they elongate the leg! 
• Hailee Steinfeld (Louis Vuitton): Although it may not be the most appropriate, weather-wise, I believe this is my favorite look of this red carpet. She's only 14 years-old and she dresses like a fashion icon! I wish I had her wardrobe when I was her age.  This look is the epitome of effortlessly chic. I'm so smitten with the sequined lapels and the wavy hair gives this look a "don't-take-this-too-seriously" vibe, which I'm such a fan of.  And the emerald clutch is the perfect pop of color! I think Amanda Bynes and Jessica Szhor could take a lesson from her.

THE 2011 CFDA Awards

If that wasn't an enormous amount of blogging, you get to read about yet another event. If you're still reading this, thanks for putting up with this post. I appreciate it! Im beyond happy that Prabal Gurung won the Swarovski Award for Womenswear, he's so talented. Oh and Gaga won Icon of the Year, being typically Gaga. But now, onto the looks! 

THE WORST:

• Chloe Sevigny (Chloe Sevigny for Opening Ceremony): This isn't chic, this is just awkward.  The combination of the leather and cotton (is it cotton?) is not a chic juxtaposition, but really confusing. The hem of the dress is matronly and awkward. The ruffles around the sleeves are awkward. And those shoes just don't work with this outfit. That's basically all I can say: AWKWARD.
• Kirsten Dunst (Patrik Ervell):  This is a perfect example of menswear gone wrong. I like when women have soft waves and a feminine vibe to their menswear inspired looks. Between the makeup, the tight bun, and the hoops (who wears hoops anymore), I felt like Dunst looked a bit like a...hooker. In my mind, she cheapened such a luxe look. If she had nixed the hoops and had a soft bun or even a soft ponytail, this would have been awesome. 
• Sofia Coppola (Marc Jacobs): This is all I have to say about this look: if you're going to a Fashion event, wear something fashionable. No "Plain Janes" allowed.
• Jenna Lyons (JCrew): J.CREW? Seriously? This is so plain and ugly. The shirt is hideous and the shoes don't even work with this look. PLAIN JANES, GET OUT.
• Karolina Kurkova (Diane von Furstenburg): This would be a pretty sick playsuit; however, the hood is crazy. And not in a cute way. She looks beautfiul and I do condone her creativity, but she looks ridiculous.
• Kelly Bensimon (Don't-Want-To-Know): This is a trainwreck. Her hair looks insanely fake and I think...no, I know that her dress is completely see-through. Come on, rando, this is the CFDA not Hooters! Show some respect! 

THE BEST: 

• Miranda Kerr (Michael Kors): Remember that time Miranda Kerr had a baby?  Not only does she look incredible, but I'm obsessed with this look. The dress is sexy without being...see-through. The gold cuff is so bold and is the perfect statement piece, something dainty just would not do! I love how she had minimal accessories in order to show off the fabulous silhouette of this outfit. And the slicked back hair and traditional makeup makes this look complete. Brava! 
• Zuzanna Bijoch (Yigal Azrouel); Usually, as everyone knows, I despise minimalism; however, Bijoch styled this really well. The bright orange is super summer and the pink piping makes it a little more interesting that your typical minimalism dress. I'm obsessed with that spiky gold cuff (uber egdy) and you can't see it in the attached picture, but she's rocking an awesome pair of booties. And if you can take minimalism to a level I like, you're fine by me! 
• Amy Astley (I have no idea, unfortunately): This is the  CFDA equivalent to Leighton Meester's MTV Movie Award dress. I think it's pretty obvious that I'm addicted to things that are shiny. Her black and gold heels go perfectly with Astley's beautifully detailled dress. I just...love the details! So much! And her super sleek hair is the perfect juxtaposition to such an intense dress. And once again, this is a situation where you shouldn't really accessories. Good job, Ms. Astley! 
• Lucy Liu (Monique Lhuillier): I don't know when Lucy Liu became such a glamazon, but I'm in love with this dress. It may be a little too Oscars for the CFDA Awards, but you know a dress is remarkable when, especially in black, you can see the details from a picture. She looks like Cinderella at an extremely urban ball. The romantic bun and the pinks lips further this Cinderella inspiration. While I do wish it was edgier, she looks amazing and it's a sure-bet.
• Hana Soukupova (Marchesa): Now this is what I call an outfit. Anywhere else, this may be too much; however, this Marchesa is perfect for a CFDA event! The mullet-esque hemline is so entrancing and the asymmetrical shoulders is so right on. I love the mix between brocade and the sheared fabric, it keeps this look glamorous, girlie, and edgy at the same time. 
• L'Wren Scott ( L'Wren Scott): I'm obsessed. Usually, black and yellow looks like a bumble bee; however, it looks mega chic here. The long silhouette is rather simple, but the gorgeous floral gives us something to talk about and makes the look more complex. The long hair makes this look more laidback and sultry, which I love! I kind of wish that she changed her accessories, especially her earrings, but she looks like a rockstar. 
• Prabal Gurung (Once again, I do not know): This little winner is so adorable! A lot of guys stuck with a regular tie or some other casual look, but I love how he dressed in a full tuxedo. As creepy as it sounds, I just want to pinch his (face) cheeks! Overall, the look is very clean and spiffy.

Good Versus Bad.

So the Vogue Fashion Show happened. I obviously wasn't there but it sounded so innovative and incredible. And Leighton Meester was there. Wearing this blue Versus number. I really don't know how I feel about this one. She looks absolutely stunning and pulled it off well but do I like the dress? I couldn't tell you, to be perfectly honest.  It's kind of weird a overtly sexy buuut, at the same time, it's kind of tasteful, innovative, and the color is GORGEOUS. I don't know if I would like it more or less if the caged midsection wasn't there, though.

I do know, however, that I like it better than it's runway origin.

I really don't like the triple straps on each section, this one is just a little too hypnotizing and a little too much. Also, the strappy shoes on the model is a little too much for me to handle.  So maybe I do like Leighton Meester's American and more commercial friendly take on it. Yeah...I think I do!

Resort: Louis Vuitton

I was in the mood to do a good 'ol runway report. When I saw the Louis Vuitton Resort collection, I knew that I had to discuss it. I loved it. A lot. I'm starting to think that I should start doing reviews about collections I didn't like. But for now, let me praise about Vuitton. I just love what's been going on over there, thanks Marc! Everything's been well crafted, and some what nostalgic. This collection? It so reminded me of one of my favorite movies as a child: Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. It was so traditional and proper, yet had a bit of fun and carni chic, shown via the stripes. It was fun, but didn't make me feel uncomfortable because it was TOO much fun. But not everything wasn't so : some pieces were a bit more progressive. Like the look with the matching leggings and jacket. It reminded me a lot of the outfit Leighton Meester wore last year to the MET Costume Gala...but I liked this one better. The silhouette was something creative, but the fabric was still relevant to the overall collection. All of the suits and dresses just made me want to watch Chitty Chitty Bang Bang all over again!
