The Oscars: Whoever Throws Powder on Burberry is Seriously Disturbed

As the Oscars begin- loved the opening scene, by the way- I begin writing my fashion round up. I've just compiled my best and worst dressed lists. I have to say, this year's fashion is definitely not what I expected; however, can  you ever really predict fashion? Just like the Sacha Baron Cohen-Ryan Seacrest red carpet incident, you cannot. I do have to say that the red carpet disaster angered me: I wonder what Christopher Bailey thinks about it? Anyway, let's cut to the chase and talk fashion, shall we?

THE WORST

Sherri Shepherd: Although I love the color with her skin tone, this dress is way too much. The jewels on the dress? no thank you. The keyhole neck? A major fashion faux pas. Why would she ever wear that black bra with this dress? Terrible. (Photo Cred)

Berenice Bejo (Elie Saab): As much as I love Elie Saab's 2012 Spring Couture, I just don't like how it's worn on the red carpet. It's a gorgeous dress; however, the styling is off. The hair- especially braided- with the beautiful mint color? Not feeling it.  The clutch was too matchy-matchy, which I thought was boring. (Photo Cred)

Viola Davis (Vera Wang):  Absolutely not. I hate the way the bodice fits her: she looks as if she's going to burst at any moment! And the chiffon pleats are terrifying. It just looks awkward. But, to give this review some positivity, her makeup and hair is phenomenal. I love how she's rocking her natural locks. You go girl!  (Photo Cred)

Jenny From the Block (Zuhair Murad):  I think she's getting a little too old to wear such a revealing dress.  The uptight bun isn''t a fun juxtaposition; instead, it's a little confusing.  This is the Oscars: keep it classy! This ensemble would've been great for the Grammys, but not the Oscars. (Photo Cred)

Emma Stone (Giambattista Valli): I hate doing this, but I have to: it's how I feel. As a lot of critics have been saying, I think this ensemble is too similar to the Balenciaga dress Nicole Kidman wore to the Oscars a couple years ago. It almost seems like a not as chic repeat. The chunky Louis Vuitton bracelet is overbearing. Also, I think there's too much red: the carpet, the hair, the dress, the huge bow on the dress. It's just way too much! (Photo Cred)

Shailene Woodley (Valentino): As much as I love long sleeved dresses, I don't like this one at all. All the ivory completely washes her out. The detailing on the bodice looks unfitted and just awkward. The updo makes this look super matronly. And no jewels? Boring! A bold lip or even a pair of statement  earrings would've made this look much better. (Photo Cred)

Anna Faris (Diane von Furstenberg): I eye this dress every time I'm in Diane von Furstenberg; however, not for this red carpet. I think this look can  either look too flashy,  oddly matronly, or awesome. Surprisingly, this dress did nothing for Faris: she looked rather heavy. As much as I love that blunt bob, it doesn't work with this styling. The longer earrings just look awkward. This dress would've been much better at the MTV Movie Awards or the Grammys, especially with a sleek ponytail. (Photo Cred)

 Natalie Portman (Dior): Love the jewels, hair, and makeup; however, I have very big issues with this dress. First of all: polka dots to the Oscars? What was her stylist thinking?  She just looks frumpy. Portman should've just stuck with Rodarte: a good 'ol Rodarte and Portman collaboration never disappoints me. (Photo Cred)



THE BEST

Stacy Keibler (Marchesa): Can we say 'Golden Goddess'?  How flawless does Keibler look in this Marchesa?  The simple silhouette is perfectly paired with the rosette and the asymmetrical shoulder. What I appreciate most about this look is the sense of balance: the hair and the rosette work together to create a cohesive and balanced look. Keeping the jewels at a minimal is perfect for this look because it's so shiny. In fact, statement jewels would've ruined this ensemble. Fantastic. (Photo Cred)

Michelle Williams (Louis Vuitton): There are no words to properly state how gorgeous she looks. This color is so stunning, but not overbearing.I'm obsessed with the subtle ruffles and the peplum: the perfect amount of detailing. Bold bracelets would've made this outfit too midsection heavy, so I love  the dainty necklace. That bright lip makes this look cohesive and entertaining from head to toe! All these components are so reminiscent of William's  Vera Wang dress at the 2006 Academy Awards, but that's alright with me! (Photo Cred)

Rose Byrne (Vivienne Westwood): So I would like to be Rose Byrne in my next life: I'm obsessed with her style and, as always, she rocked such an innovative dress. This dress is just like Anna Faris' outfit...but better. This asymmetrical neckline and the column silhouette makes black sequins sexy. Since her bob isn't as pinned to her face, Bryne's dangling earrings complement her short do. Her makeup, jewels, shoes, and clutch all worked together to form a truly glamorous and sexy look. Also, can we look at that back? Phenomenal. (Photo Cred)

Tina Fey (Carolina Herrera): I think Derek Blasberg describes this look the best. Finally, Tina Fey is coming into her own and dressing to impress. I love the peplum on this Herrera dress. The glam bun and standout blue jewels? Forget about it.However, he dark color and the flared skirt stick with her original fashion aesthetic.  (Photo Cred)

Angelina Jolie (Atelier Versace): Sexiest dress of the night? Absolutely yes.The high slit plus the structured bodice gives us the perfect mix of sultry and fashion forwardness. The lack of jewels makes this look more simplistic and relaxed. Can we talk about the bright lip and flowing hair for a second? Va va voom!  Let's be honest: you would pop your leg like that if you were wearing that dress. (Photo Cred)

Milla Jovovich (Elie Saab): Such a stunning red carpet moment. This look is seriously flawless: the asymmetrical shoulder is absolutely divine and that beading is out-of-this-world. The silhouette, not to mention the hair, epitomizes old school glamour. The phenomenal red lip spices up the monochromatic look. (Photo Cred)

Penelope Cruz (Giorgio Armani): This is my favorite Penelope Cruz look ever. The color is beautiful and that silhouette is so classic. The shoulders really show off that old school glamour. Her classic makeup, glamourous hair, and dainty necklace finish off this look with a bang! (Photo Cred)

Jessica Chastain (Alexander McQueen): Definitely one of my favorites from the night. This is so different for Chastain; however, it was a risk worth taking! I love the mix between black and gold, especially with that fantastic print. Her polished down do and fresh makeup  adds a hint of girly glamour. She literally looks perfect.  (Photo Cred)

Octavia Spencer (Tadashi Shoji): First of all, she won!  Second of all, I'm obsessed with this dress. I love the super flattering silhouette of this dress. The beading moves towards her stomach, making this dress even more flattering. White looks absolutely gorgeous with her complexion! Also, her hair and makeup is sultry and classic at the same time. How? I couldn't tell you. As a side note, I would really like those earrings in my jewelry box. (Photo Cred)

Gwyneth Platrow (Tom Ford): Such a stunning ensemble. I love how Platrow is always willing to take  risks. What makes this look work is the straight silhouette. If there was anymore volume, the cape would look terrible. Even without the cape, this dress is effortlessly chic. That strong cuff gives this Tom Ford attire that dash of glamour that the night requires. This red carpet ensemble will go down in history.(Photo Cred)

Style Files: And We Will Float Above the Rift

Everyone has a mojo-less week every now and then. The Shins' "Simple Song" is my personal  musical medication for a mojo-less week. Maybe it's the beat or maybe the lyrics, but I'm loving it. Alright, enough with this potentially depressing introduction, le's get right into the action, shall we?

The Style Files: Demi Moore

Unless you've been living under a celebrity-gossip rock, you'll know about Demi Moore's terrifying rush to the hospital. I listened to the 911 call a couple of days ago and it was so scary. To show my support for Team Demi, this style-spiration goes out to her. I love Demi's style- even pre-Rachel Zoe- because she dresses for her age. At the same time, Demi also allows her clothes to show off her timeless beauty. 

At the 2009 Freedom Awards (Lanvin): This look is both simple and fashion-forward. Not only is the Grecian dress to die for, literally, but it's styled beautifully. The bold statement necklace plus the chained heels? To good for words: the chains in the statement necklace works perfectly with the bold shoes. The down- do makes this looks relaxed.   (Photo Cred)

At the 2010 (Versace): This blush tone looks absolutely incredible with her skin ton. The ruffles  are so stunning, which prevents Demi from being washed out. The silver jewel also perfectly complements the monochromatic look. The super elegant hair counteracts the complexity of this dress. Divine. (Photo Cred)

At the No Strings Attached Premiere (Carven): I love this alternative spin on a LBD and it is fabulously styled. The black heels and sophisticated hair looks awesome with the futuristic zipper. The hem-length is modest, but still shows her killer bod. .(Photo Cred)

At the GI Jane Premiere in 1997: This look is so timeless I'm obsessed. The cut and silhouette is so flattering and this look's simplicity allows her inner beauty to shine through.  She could even wear this dress today- but shouldn't because it'd be awkward to bring it back- and it'd be stellar. (Photo Cred)

At the 1997 Oscars: Can we say a precursor to Spring 2011 RTW Armani Prive? The silhouette is so fabulous and I love the shimmer. The minimal jewels allows the main focus to be on this dress. Beautfiul (Photo Cred)

The Weekly

• Kate Moss at the 24 Hours Prada Museum: I'm a sucker for fur and Kate Moss always rocks fur perfectly. She's capable of making fur look young and hip, which is what we should all aspire to do with our fur. There's something about the two-toned dress that makes this fur work better with this look. At the wavy hair? The perfect finishing touch. 
• Blake Lively at the Jason Wu for Target launch (Jason Wu): Two of my favorite fashion fanatics rolled into one look? Incredible. I love how Blake kept this look rather simple with minimal jewels and elegant hair. Peplums are so big right now and in this case, it definitely spices up a traditional black and white look. So does the subtle printed heels. 
• Katherine Heigl at the One for the Money premiere in New York (Herve. L Leroux); Lady in red! This dress is so flattering on her and makes her look like a timeless movie star. Although she didn't incorporate a lot of jewels, the asymmetrical dress ads the perfect amount of drama to this look.
• Angelina Jolie at the Producers' Guild Awards (Michael Kors): This is such a major fashion moment. I love lace, as most of you should know by now. The combination of lace sleeves and a high slit makes this look fashion-forward and age appropriate. I'm glad she kept this look monochromatic: this look wouldn't be classic with a pop of color.

So ladies and gent, the SAG awards are on tonight! I'm so excited to watch them and report back right here.  Unlike the Golden Globes, I'm thinking column silhouettes , fun prints, and pops of color. On the beauty front, I'm also hoping for stellar cat eyes or a fabulous lip. What are your fashion predictions?

The Style Files: I'm Not a Part of a Red Neck Agenda

Stress enables people to do many things: smoke, drink, or maybe even eat an obscene amount of food. When I'm stressed, I love to listen to a good show tune. I know, who am I? With papers, projects, and finals galore this week, I developed a strange love for the Green Day musical, American Idiot. It all began when I started You Tube stalking John Gallagher Jr.: he's so cute! Now, I can't stop listening to their remedition of "American Idiot." I know I could've of easily made the song of the week Green Day's original version, I'm a blatantly honest person and don't like lying. Plus, this quirk is too funny to ignore.

STYLE SPIRATION: Rachel McAdams
From Mean Girls to Red Eye, I always find myself loving Rachel McAdams. She's a great actress and a super fabulous fashionista. If you don't believe me, scroll down to the weekly.  This week's edition of the Style Spiration is dedicated to Rachel McAdams for always being a classy actress and fabulous fashionista.

At the most recent Cannes Film Festival (Marchesa): I want this dress for my own- future- collection of Marchesa dresses. Amazing. The cherry red lace adds the perfect amount of drama to the nude background. I could picture this dress being a little provocative; however, I think it's so chic and dramatic and perfect. Paired with the feminine makeup and old Hollywood glamour hair? Perfection.  (Photo Cred)

At a 2006 Oscar Ceremony (Miu Miu): I feel as if most blondes stay away from yellow, but I love this color on her. I love how simple the silhouette and the detailing on the bodice is fantastic. The relaxed updo works with the dress so well. Since there's a lot of sparkle on the dress' bodice, the minimal jewels is good.  Last but not least, that red lip? It's everything.  (Photo Cred)

McAdams Food Shopping (Her own clothes, shocker): I just love how casual this look is; however, she's not wearing your typical sweat pants. The black accessories, knee highs, and boots really make the dress the look's focus. There's something pretty funky about that boot  and knee-high combo. I kind of like it, though. (Photo Cred)

At the 2010 Academy Awards (Elie Saab Haute Couture): Amazing. The dramatic skirt with the subtle floral print is brilliant. I love how she kept her hair up and the dangling earrings are the perfect amount of jewels for this look. Lovely. (Photo Cred)

THE WEEKLY

• Rachel McAdams at the Sherlock Holmes sequel premiere (Marchesa): My jaw actually dropped when I saw this look. She always makes a splash on the red carpet, which I love, love, LOVE.  That silver ,mixed with the light pink light and blonde hair? Ah-maze-zing. Can we even begin to talk about that striking back? I'm going crazy over this look.   From the dress' length to the stunning details on the Marchesa- when it comes to fabulousity, leave it to Georgia Chapman- the look is so wintry! Beautiful.
• Emma Watson at Lancome event in Hong Kong (Elie Saab): She literally looks like a fashion  princess. First and foremost, I love when people wear navy. I don't know why, but I do. The navy plus the stunning red lip? Don't even get me started. The metallic strapped heels acted as a neutral in this look, which I love. Fabulous.
• Angelina Jolie at the In the Land of Blood and Honey premiere (Romona Keveza): I'm obsessed.  Navy and nude is such a stellar color combination, so that's amazing. That dress?  Phenomenal. The silhouette and the asymmetry? No words. However, I do wish she had a bolder eye or a really enviable, silver bracelet. Regardless, the navy and nude is incredible.
• Olivia Palermo at the Valentino Virtual Museum Party (Marchesa): Well, this is beautiful. The sequined detailing on that Marchesa is gorgeous and I love how the dress is paired with those funky heels. I love Olivia Palermo's style because she does that quirky stuff; however, she always  looks undeniably chic. The feminine hair, makeup, and clutch are the perfect thing to balance such a show-stopping ensemble.
• Lea Michele at The Tonight Show (Pucci): Fine, I'll admit it: Lea looks great here. The cohesiveness of the wavy hair and printed dress is right on. I also love how she's wearing hoops or dangling earrings. Though I think a pump would have been more winter-appropriate, the nude shoe does elongate her legs, which is always good.

The Style Files: All the Kids Have Always Known That the Emperor Wears No Clothes

I first heard "Ready to Start" by Arcade Fire in February but it took me until now to love it. It's one of those songs that make me want to start a riot of some sort. Odd? Yes. True? Totally.

Style-Spiration: Jane Aldridge 

As an aspiring fashionista and fashion blogger, it is imperative to look at other blogs. They serve as inspiration for my everyday life as well as your favorite blog, aka this one. And one of my favorite ones, which I highly recommend, is Sea of Shoes. Her pictures are so artistic and inspiring and I am OBSESSED with her outfits. Like, I really want to go vintage shopping with her. Anyways, I love her photo shoots! In fear of looking self centered, I rarely post personal pictures on my blog. Jane's pictures, however, are so natural.  I don't look at them and think, "Well this is awkward." Instead, I think, "I love her photography skills and outfits." So I want to dedicate this week to Jane , her immaculate glamour and styling.

In her Avalon blog post, she rocked this look and I quickly became obsessed. The almost monochromatic look is absolutely striking with her orange hair and red lip. I also love old band shirts and I love how she styled it with light Club Monaco bomber jacket: very rock and roll without going overboard. Obsessed! (Photo Cred)

Not only am I in love with this beautiful vintage dress, but I love how she styles each and every look from head to toe. The half-up hair style? It works so well with this haltered dress! I feel like sometimes, I forget to style my hair so I feel like I'm slacking whenever I look at this blog. The print is so eccentric so keeping the jewels and shoes simple was perfect. The Black Tie was literally a dream. The silhouette of the Nannette Lepore skirt is gorgeous. Mixed with that vintage blouse? On another level! So old school Hollywood slash a glamazon-ed Audrey Hepburn. Those tortoise adds such a wow factor to the look. And those fabulous Miu Mius are the perfect way to spice up a completely black ensemble. If you haven't realized by now, I love when fabulously fashionable people can have fun with what they wear. In my mind, the Wolf Gang blog post epitomizes fun fash-tivities (told you I'd use that term again). Although it is quite zany, I love he wolf sweater: it's so fun and looks quite cozy! Styled with the large headband and skinnies reminds me of a weekend at a ski lodge. And I love the lip color: it adds a hint of glam to such a casual look!  (Photo Cred)

• Angelina Jolie at the Sarajevo Film Festival (Elie Saab): Lately, Jolie has been wearing a lot of color. And I love it. The length of this dress is age appropriate; however, the beautiful coral is completely glamorous.  Although I think a really loose chignon would complete this look, the nude Jimmy Choo peep toes are perfection. I originally didn't like the lack of jewels, but I changed my mind. If she had on fierce jewels, it would look too much like dress-up. Don't get me wrong, I love dress up. But now isn't the time!
• Dianna Argon at the Late Show with David Letterman (Stella McCartney): OBSESSED. First of all I love the chopped hair, very sexy!  She did a complete black look PERFECTLY! The velvet accents give this look some character and the peplum flare makes this dress so much fun. I would complain about the lack of jewels- are you surprised- but I think the lip color is the PERFECT accessory. Divine! On Wednesday, I wore a fuchsia lip with black! Copying is the nicest form of flattery?

The Anti-Weekly: The Underwear Saga

For this weekly, I decided that I wanted to take an excerpt from an anecdote I've been working on, fashion- related, obviously. Yes, this topic may be weird. But just go with it: 

"In time, most people forget their firsts. After it a few years, it quickly becomes a blur; however, I still haven’t forgot. I’m not talking about sex- perverts, this is a fashion blog for crying out loud- I’m talking about my first pair of underwear. Yes, underwear. Strange topic, I know, but I really do feel that my first pair either exhibits my love for glamourous things at an early age or emphasize how much I love undergarments. The latter may be more applicable, since I just embraced a Victoria’s Secret sale with open arms and one of my favorite books was called The Princess and the Potty, but I will stick to the former for now.

Once upon a time, mini me graduated from diapers and was taking the big step, as a toddler or however old I was, towards adulthood: real underwear. My mom took me to some store, expecting me to pick some basic pair of underwear that was pink and had a princess on it or something. 

“Pick out whichever pair you’d like,” she must have said.

Of course, in my typical unconventional manner, I did not pick the pack of underwear that had each day of the week printed, as many children would’ve; I was so over Rebecca Black’s “Friday” pandaemonium before she was even born. Instead, I picked the following: a single pair of silky white panties with silver specs on them. I really don’t know who I was planning to impress at such a young age, but I loved them. They were way too big for me, since no youth company in its right mind would create such a pair, but my mom let me get them anyways. 

Hopefully, this fun anecdote doesn’t make me seem like a baby prostitute- yes, I just quoted Mean Girls- but an aspiring fashionista since basically the womb. When I was at the gym yesterday, I was thinking about my future weirdly enough. What do I want to be when I grow up? Better yet, who do I want to be when I grow up? In short, I want to be a fabulous glamazon. Due to my underwear situation, I felt as if I have been working on this goal all of my life. And that made my day. Except for when I actually looked for these iconic pair of undies and they’re officially missing. The moral of this story is:  don’t be afraid to let out your inner glamazon, regardless of your age, and save all of your clothes. Seriously, my mother had approximately seven Diane von Furstenburg dresses back in her heyday. Where are they now? “I don’t know,” says my mom. I’m still not over it."

Sometimes, writing about fashion experiences is just as much fun as looking at shows and copying trends. Speaking of looking at things, some of the looks this week were absolutely atrocious. They just couldn't slip under the radar, without a nice slap on the wrist from yours truly!  So, I have decided to make this weekly an Anti-Weekly! Yahoo! Before I get started, this blog is looking really ugly and boring (even in the writing form so I can't imagine how boring it must look for you). So I figured to throw a video in here for Fun. Literally, Fun. I'm obsessed with the band, Fun, and this song has been my jam lately. So enjoy:

And now, onto the Anti-Weekly! 

• Uma Thurman at Cannes (Armani Prive): I'm really upset that something thing ugly would be worn at Cannes.  First of all, this dress is the most unflattering thing Uma Thurman could ever wear. I don't want to sound mean, but she kind of looks like a bloated whale. It's such a shame because she's so beautiful and the Cannes Film Festival is always a highlight of the red carpet calendar. A draped work of art of some-sort would've been a better idea. And the lack of accessories makes the unflattering aspects of this Prive even more prominent. The color is beautiful, but the silhouette and fit is seriously the worst.
• Angelina Jolie at the Kung Fu Panda 2 Premiere (Michael Kors Collection): A major mistake, from bodice to skirt. It seriously looks like she stole this from a bag-person and threw it on quickly because she was running late (in this scenario, I'm assuming it was her turn to do the soccer carpool). Even though I'm more of a "Team Aniston" kind of girl, I have to admit that, usually, Angelina Jolie is quite a glamazon herself. But her makeup looks kind of weird on her, the hair looks like a country boy's haircut gone wrong, and the lack of jewels makes me sad. But all of these things seem  minuscule compared to the dress. The top is way too lose and baggy leather sort of freaks me out. I wouldn't mind overtly sexual silt if the hem was longer. THE HEMLINE WITH THE SILT IS SO AWKWARD. It looks like a Grandma's night out on the town. Bad, Angelina, bad.
• Ke$ha at the Billboard Music Awards (I-Don't-Want-to-Know-and-am-glad-I-Don't): I never expect Ke$ha to make it on a regular Weekly or to rock my "Best Dressed" list, but I would like to call this rock bottom.  At the same time, however, I feel like there's not much I can say without being too mean. So I'll leave it at this:

Dear Ke$ha,

Your clothes are anything from Blah Blah Blah.

So please Take it Off, and hire a stylist.

• Jenny from the Block at some American Idol gig (Michael Kors): This looks like a terrible costume at JLo concert. I hate this so much. I just hate how everything is so nude. A good pantsuit is awesome, but the styling is so wrong. First of all, she needs to STOP wearing nude: it's getting annoying.  And when wearing a pantsuit, it's imperative to either have a baggy or tight fit, not both. The area around the heels are not flared, but baggy; however, the leg is too tight for a pantsuit. I feel like it's hard to pick certain issues with this look because this whole thing is terrible.
• Halle Berry at the FiFi Awards (Halston): Without a doubt, Halle Berry is stunning and this dress would have been tres chic if the skirt was long and straight. But the skirt of the dress is what made this onto the anti-weekly. It makes her look young, and not in a complimentary way. And those shoes? way too casual and way too tack. Not your best, Halle!

Green with Envy

Like I would be able to start this blog tomorrow. The Golden Globes haven't even started as I begin this blog post and I have so much to say! I've been sitting on my couch for three hours, attached to the television and the dresses?! OOOF! Amazing. Some look great and some...well..don't,  but that's what I'm here to talk about! 

So let's get started, eh?

THE WORST

• Jennifer Love Hewitt (Marchesa): I think she's a really pretty lady, but her outfits are just terrible. It was just too matchy and senior prom-esque. And the hair was just a battered bee's nest. There was no "pop", no "wow" factor. I don't know how she did it, but Jennifer Love Hewitt made Marchesa boring. That's just not okay. 
• Julianne Hough (Marchesa): Julianne's biggest problem is that she's trying too hard. Usually, I'd love the idea of this jeweled neckline, but I really hate it here. It's way too forced!  The up- do is really ruining it for me, I think a sleek ponytail would have made this oh so sophisticated. It's just a bit unbalanced, which is the problem. If it had a silt and paired with some fabulous shoes, I'd love. But the hair is poof and the collar is so bold, it just makes the rest of the look boring. 
• Kyra Sedgwick (Pucci): Been there, done that. It's a mix of Diane Kruger and Lea Michelle. I just don't like that. Usually, she has so many fabulous outfits, this was just not good enough. It was boring and not Globes material. This color is way too young for her. I'm just not a fan at all.  Does that sound harsh? I'm really sorry! 
• Julie Bowen (Tadashi Shoji): She's gorgeous and I'm obsessed with her on Modern Family , but not this look. I do love the color on her, but I wish the texture was either on the skirt or bodice, not both. Preferably, the skirt. For her age, it just seems like a bit too much. While she looks gorgeous, her other accessories are also lacking; a metallic bag would've looked so cool with this dress and I would prefer a darker shoe.  But all in all, it was satisfactory.
• Helena Bonham Carter (Vivienne Westwood): This is the worst outfit in the whole wide world. I repeat, this is tragic. Just to re-emphasize the fact, just look at this and cringe. I don't care how quirky you want to be, what makes us unique makes us shine, but MATCH YOUR SHOES. Nothing about this is alright, but it would've been a bit better if she matched her shoes. Does she have a stylist? She should get one. This is horrendous. I hate this more than I've ever hated a dress. This an insult.

• January Jones (Versace): If this is best dressed, I will think something's wrong with fashion today. This is completely taste-less.  Yes, she's a gorgeous woman, but this is too much. People may not know this, but it is possible for people to show some skin, look sexy, and remain classy.  Her hair and makeup looks so timeless, but this is so trashy.
• Emma Stone (Calvin Klein):  I think she looks gorgeous, but I'm just using her Klein dress as ammunition against minimalism. The peachy color blends in with her skin too much and her recently blonde hair makes her look so bland. What would've made this look so much better is a red lip or some dramatic makeup. What I hated was how forgettable it is.
• Elisabeth Moss (Donna Karan): I'm going to make this really simple: great dress, terrible accessories. This look single-handedly proves how terrible accessories can lead to a terrible look. Am I using the word terrible too much? Oh well. The makeup is too natural and she just looks really really bare. A bracelet or something would've made the world's difference.
• Sandra Bullock (Jenny Packham): Yes, Sandra's been through some terrible things this year, but that's not an excuse. Her bangs are really emo, as my boyfriend perfectly stated. This dress reminds me of a former ice skater in a retirement home. It's too old and too sparkly for being too old. Maybe she ran out of fuel after her frequent hits last year?
• Halle Berry (Nina Ricci): This whole long sheer look is really starting to get on my nerves. Halle Berry is extremely sexy,  there's no need to look like a street walker.  That's all I need to say, I believe.
• Jennifer Lopez (Zuhair Murad): Take off the cape, J.LO, you just look silly! And the makeup was TOO MUCH! And I thought you were going to be a fashionista...
• Scarlet Johansson (Elie Saab): I think I screamed when I saw this look. Seriously, it was scary. I hated the kimono sleeves and that hair?! EW!! It was just scary. I feel for her break up with Ryan  Reynolds, but once again, no excuse. She just looks so old, which I find bothersome. She is easily one of the most beautiful women in Hollywood.  She needs to dress for her age and someone needs to stop teasing her hair.
• Heidi Klum (Marc Jaccobs): Trust me, I love 70's inspired dresses, but this was not chic. In fact, I really despised this. It takes a lot for a supermodel to look ugly. Congratulations Heidi, you achieved the impossible. If her hair was longer and if the dress wasn't so ugly, this look would be unbelievable. But the hair is so awkward and the dress...ooof ....it looks like it got caught is some kind of laundry disaster. I just don't understand, nobody on Project Runway couldn't do better? Really?
• Tilda Swinton (something boring): I really despise Tilda Swinton and her minimalist ways. I'm upset.

THE BEST 

• Olivia Wilde (Marchesa): She is such a superstar. I'm obsessed with this. Although shimmer full skirted dresses have been a bit overdone lately (let's think the majority of Rachel Zoe's clients), Wilde made it new with her super straight hair and bob. She made such a beautiful dress look edgy and rockish. Also, have you seen her shoes? SO COOL! I love how she always mixes it up and always looks fierce. 
• Mark Salling (Simon Spurr): Those aviators, that fo-hawk...I'm in love. He could probably wear anything and, with those accessories, still look undeniably sexy and chic. That's all I need to say about this.
• Jayma Mays (Alberta Ferretti): She looks sooooo sleek in this Ferretti outfit. I love the drastic neckline and back; the sheer netting makes it looks extremely awesome. The black is so striking with her red hair. Usually with black dresses, it's hard to see the detail in pictures. But the details in this dress are not only visible, but extremely striking. She nailed this.
• Amber Riley (Oliver Tolentino): A completely sparkled dress can be difficult for anyone to rock, especially people who aren't a size 00. Riley, however, looks absolutely incredible. I love how she's embracing her curves; this lady has an amazing voice and she's so adorable!
• Diana Agron (J.Mendel): She looks like an old school movie star. Incredible. Surprisingly, this color does not wash her out; instead, she looks so timeless. Even though her makeup was light, that did not wash her out either. I don't know, she seems to have a knack for not getting washed out! All in all, she looks heavenly!
• Jake Gyllenhaal (Burberry): I love a good juxtaposition. Jake's scruff with his cleaned up Burberry is definitely one of my favorites. How can you not love Jake?!  And I love a good bow tie! So Jake and a bow tie is priceless.
• Lea Michele (Oscar de la Renta): Her personality kind of bothers me, but she really looks flawless. This outfit is perfectly put together. The messy up-do works so well with the ruffled de la Renta dress. And the pink color is so fabulous! I don't think she's ever done something girly before, but I'm loving this. That green cocktail ring is such a great finishing touch. I love love love this! 
• Leighton Meester (Zac Posen): People may think she looks like an old lady in this Posen dress, but I love it! Her makeup and hair is so fresh and youthful. Also, the silt gives the look some va va vroom!
• Catherine Zeta Jones (Monique Lhuillier): A vision. This emerald looked amazing with her complexion and the silhouette was so age appropriate and beautiful. Is it upsetting I knew this was a Monique Lhuillier dress when I saw it?  Her slicked back hair and dainty jewels went perfectly with this look. Obsessed.
• Mila Kunis (Vera Wang): Once again, emerald is a fabulous color right now. I love the ruching and tiny details of this dress. What I love about this dress is how she really made this dress youthful. The one shoulder and volumized hair really made this chic edgy and chic, which works perfectly for Mila!
• Tina Fey (L'Wren Scott): A for Effort! Fey has come a long way from her days of simple black dresses. I thought the velvet was interesting and navy?! She's really growing!  It was age appropriate but something new, which I really appreciated.
• Megan Fox (Armani Prive): I didn't recognize Megan Fox when I first saw her; she didn't look like a sex symbol, but a movie star. It was so girly, which I loved on Fox: the hair, the dress, the shoes. I loved how the shoes picked up on the sparkle in the Prive dress. And the sparkle on the Prive dress worked well with her metallic clutch. This look wasn't too matchy matchy, but it all worked and made sense. It was so classy, Megan Fox should definitely try this look more often!

AND NOW FOR THE TWO DRESSES THAT CHANGED MY LIFE.

This is the most perfect look ever. She wears a lot of Armani Prive, but this is her finest by far. It is so flattering and unique, even though a lot of people rocked the long look. The sparkles were fabulous and the back...to die for. Also, I love how she wore her hair down; she doesn't do it that much, but the look would've look too restricted otherwise. Can I please steal this dress?!

This Versace dress has a really similar silhouette to Anne's dress, but Angelina is rocking the emerald green, which is so in right now. She always looks so minimalist and boring, frequently wearing blacks and nudes. My jaw legitimately dropped when I saw this. She looked so bright and looked...like a human. Her hair was cascading and the back was great.  I was so happy to see this dress! SO GOOD
