The 2012 Grammys

I just have one thing to say in regards to the 2012 Grammy Awards:

ADELE

I'm so incredibly happy that she won SIX- count 'em ,SIX- awards. She's such a musical gem and I couldn't be happier. But Bruno Mars' performance was also super cute: 

Surprisingly enough, I was so please with most of the looks from this red carpet. Sure, there were some mishaps; however, most starlets were looking chic and funky.

THE WORST 

• Nicki Minaj (Versace): You know  you crossed the line when Lady Gaga's dressed more sane that you are. Nicki, my dear: what were you thinking? This is so offensive and her skit was really disturbing. Usually, I like twisted things- like my  crime dramas-but this went a little too far. Calm Roman down, Sweetheart! 
• Katy Perry (Elie Saab): I'm so disappointed. Elie Saab's couture collection was so phenomenal; however, this dress was ruined by Katy Perry's makeup. Maybe I'm crazy, but blue hair,  a magenta lip, and orange skin just doesn't work with Elie Saab. This is dreadful.
• Anne Vyalitsyna (Undetermined): Can we say trashy? It looks like her dress was caught in the limo door. Seriously, I don't care how fabulous  your body is: this is just inappropriate. That's all. 
• Fergie (Jean Paul Gaultier): I love the concept of this Jean Paul  Gaultier couture dress; however, black undies? Wrong. Black undergarments may have been okay for the runway, that's just wrong on the red carpet. She should've either worn nude undergarments or lined the dress. This is just trashy.

THE BEST 

• Adele (Armani): If you haven't realized how much I love Adele, there's an issue. I cannot get over how adorable she is and this outfit is to die for. I love a long sleeve and this three quarters length is both sophisticated and sexy, especially with the length of the dress. The simplistic silhouette is super flattering and I love the dose of sparkle. Also, the shorter hair and red lip? Not getting over this anytime soon. 
• Carrie Underwood (Gomez-Garcia): My favorite Carrie Underwood look ever, hands down. Not only is this dress super detailled, but the sexy back? Forget about it! The crisp white is phenomenal with the super glam hair. Also, the minimal jewels is perfect for this: all she needs is a stunning pair of earrings. 
• Paris Hilton (Basil Soda): Okay, the days of "That's Hot" may be long gone; however, this is definitely Paris Hilton's fashion peak. This Basil Soda dress is incredible on her and makes her look- dare I say it- chic. I love the gold and white combination and the print is strategically placed.  Although the belt is arbitrarily placed -lower done would've been better- I love how it makes this dress funkier. Her understated hair and makeup is the perfect way to finish this outfit. 
• Bruno Mars (Thom Browne): I go crazy for Bruno's retro style. From his pants' hem, to his funky hair, to his amazing sunglasses, Bruno always makes me swoon. What's so awesome about his style is that he has his own vision and always sticks to it. 
• John Legend and Chrissy Teigen (Undetermined): Can we say best looking couple of the night (although my roommate and him would be a much better couple, just saying)?  He looks incredible with that skinny tie and Chrissy's dress is too amazing for words.  Long sleeves and a high slit? The perfect mix of sexuality and sophistication. 
• Jessie J (Julien Macdonald): Honestly, this is the perfect dress for the Grammys. The mirrored effect? The killer silhouette?  The strong ponytail? Rocker chic done so right. The black jewels are so perfect: they make this look complete without crossing the line and making her look too metallic. I don't even like Jessie J that much; however, this look is so divine. 
• Rihanna (Armani): I found fashion love in a hopeless place a.k.a. the Grammys. This Rihanna-Armani collaboration is so sexy. The plunging neck is perfectly paired with the dainty necklaces. And that high silt? Out of this world. What makes this dress sophisticated is her minimal makeup and fun hair. Just because Chris Brown performed at the Grammys doesn't mean Rihanna has to play victim; instead, she showed him that she's the best thing he never had.
• Taylor Swift (Zuhair Murad):Okay, Taylor Swift fans, don't get too excited: this is probably the only time that I'll compliment her. I'm sorry, but she really bothers me and her performance was too awkward. Aywho, this Zuhair Murad dress is STUNNING.  She is tall and lanky enough to make this dress look sophisticated. The golds do work lovely with her blonde hair. Also, that high bun is the perfect way to make this look clean and sophisticated. Now her performance look? That's a different story...
• Alicia Keys (Alexandre Vauthier): Two words: perfectly styled. Keys truly knows how to turn a LBD into something spectacular. Those mary jane-inspired shoes plus that beyond fierce necklace plus that super edgy hair? AMAZING. If she had worn a more complex dress, all of that would've been too much; however, all of these elements purely spice up the look. Fabulous.
• Corinne Bailey Rae (Christian Siriano): Is it weird that I kind of like this look? The dress is so quirky and Christian Siriano-esque. While it may be a little too pouffy, isn't the Grammys the perfect time for quirky pieces? Her hair is so sick and I love that lip. Fabulous. 
• Kelly Osbourne (Tony Ward): Take note: this is how to do the awkward gray hair trend correctly. This Tony Ward dress is super edgy and youthful, which counteracts her matronly hair. Overall, I love the way this dress looks on her: the silhouette is very flattering  and I love the draping. Sometimes, sequined dresses can appear rather...stiff. This dress, on the other hand, has so much movement. 
• Adam Levine (Undetermined): I love how Adam spiced the typical suit up with color and stripes. Also, he's so sexy, how could I not include him?

Style Files: And We Will Float Above the Rift

Everyone has a mojo-less week every now and then. The Shins' "Simple Song" is my personal  musical medication for a mojo-less week. Maybe it's the beat or maybe the lyrics, but I'm loving it. Alright, enough with this potentially depressing introduction, le's get right into the action, shall we?

The Style Files: Demi Moore

Unless you've been living under a celebrity-gossip rock, you'll know about Demi Moore's terrifying rush to the hospital. I listened to the 911 call a couple of days ago and it was so scary. To show my support for Team Demi, this style-spiration goes out to her. I love Demi's style- even pre-Rachel Zoe- because she dresses for her age. At the same time, Demi also allows her clothes to show off her timeless beauty. 

At the 2009 Freedom Awards (Lanvin): This look is both simple and fashion-forward. Not only is the Grecian dress to die for, literally, but it's styled beautifully. The bold statement necklace plus the chained heels? To good for words: the chains in the statement necklace works perfectly with the bold shoes. The down- do makes this looks relaxed.   (Photo Cred)

At the 2010 (Versace): This blush tone looks absolutely incredible with her skin ton. The ruffles  are so stunning, which prevents Demi from being washed out. The silver jewel also perfectly complements the monochromatic look. The super elegant hair counteracts the complexity of this dress. Divine. (Photo Cred)

At the No Strings Attached Premiere (Carven): I love this alternative spin on a LBD and it is fabulously styled. The black heels and sophisticated hair looks awesome with the futuristic zipper. The hem-length is modest, but still shows her killer bod. .(Photo Cred)

At the GI Jane Premiere in 1997: This look is so timeless I'm obsessed. The cut and silhouette is so flattering and this look's simplicity allows her inner beauty to shine through.  She could even wear this dress today- but shouldn't because it'd be awkward to bring it back- and it'd be stellar. (Photo Cred)

At the 1997 Oscars: Can we say a precursor to Spring 2011 RTW Armani Prive? The silhouette is so fabulous and I love the shimmer. The minimal jewels allows the main focus to be on this dress. Beautfiul (Photo Cred)

The Weekly

• Kate Moss at the 24 Hours Prada Museum: I'm a sucker for fur and Kate Moss always rocks fur perfectly. She's capable of making fur look young and hip, which is what we should all aspire to do with our fur. There's something about the two-toned dress that makes this fur work better with this look. At the wavy hair? The perfect finishing touch. 
• Blake Lively at the Jason Wu for Target launch (Jason Wu): Two of my favorite fashion fanatics rolled into one look? Incredible. I love how Blake kept this look rather simple with minimal jewels and elegant hair. Peplums are so big right now and in this case, it definitely spices up a traditional black and white look. So does the subtle printed heels. 
• Katherine Heigl at the One for the Money premiere in New York (Herve. L Leroux); Lady in red! This dress is so flattering on her and makes her look like a timeless movie star. Although she didn't incorporate a lot of jewels, the asymmetrical dress ads the perfect amount of drama to this look.
• Angelina Jolie at the Producers' Guild Awards (Michael Kors): This is such a major fashion moment. I love lace, as most of you should know by now. The combination of lace sleeves and a high slit makes this look fashion-forward and age appropriate. I'm glad she kept this look monochromatic: this look wouldn't be classic with a pop of color.

So ladies and gent, the SAG awards are on tonight! I'm so excited to watch them and report back right here.  Unlike the Golden Globes, I'm thinking column silhouettes , fun prints, and pops of color. On the beauty front, I'm also hoping for stellar cat eyes or a fabulous lip. What are your fashion predictions?

The Style Files: I Won't Give Up Without a Fight

Ladies and gent, the Style Files are back in action. After a short hiatus- there's so much to do during the winter season- we're back to looking at our favorite weekly looks, gushing over a celebrity's  style, and jamming out to songs of my choice. So let's get this party re-started, shall we?

Whenever I head over to London, I always make sure to pick up a couple British CDs. I got to keep my musical variety, you know? Anyways, I'm currently obsessed with Olly Murs' "Dance with me Tonight." To me, Olly Murs is the British Bruno Mars. Too far? Judge for yourself!

STYLE-SPIRATION: Florence Welch 

Okay, I didn't love her in the Chanel cape; however, I think that Florence Welch is uber fashionable. Unlike many celebrities, you rarely find Florence wearing something sub-par that doesn't roll with her style aesthetic. Also, ethereal plus high glamor equal a major win in my book! So this week, let's take a look at Florence Welch's amazing style, shall we?

Performing at Chanel Spring RTW 2012 Show (Chanel): Not only was this such a major Fashion Week moment, but I love the outfit. The beading at the fabric paillette-esque detailing looks phenomenal with such a simplistic silhouette, Her soft wavy hair is such a stellar finishing touch.  (Photo Cred)

At the 2010 Brit Awards (Zuhair Murad): A sequined minidress? So sexy! It's not very Florence; however, she still tosses in that ethereal look with the hair. The fitted silhouette makes her look super curvy, which is awesome. The relatively simple shoes keep the focus on that stunning dress.  (Photo Cred)

At the Grammys (Givenchy):  Honestly, this is Florence Welch at her finest. She is the perfect person to pull off this Givenchy couture dress. I love how her red locks goes with the orange on the back of the dress. The natural makeup? Perfection. (Photo Cred)

THE WEEKLY 

• Rooney Mara at The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo premiere in Paris (Louis Vuitton): Not only did Rooney kick-butt as Dragon Tattoo's Lisbeth Salander, but she also knows how to wear statement pieces. The simple strappy sandals- though not too appropriate for winter- are perfectly paired with the extravagant dress. Rooney walks the red carpet sans jewels in order to keep this look clean. The slicked back hair plus the red lip? It's everything. Look, my predictions are already coming true! 
• Minka Kelly in Beverly Hills (Unknown designer): I'm obsessed with this look. That flowing dress is so reminiscent of effortless seventies fashion, while the structured clutch gives this look a good balance of ethereal and strength. The minimal silver jewels and soft waves are the perfect finishing touches.

A Chic New Year

New Year's Eve screams three things to me: reflection, redemption, and a fabulous outfit. While we should definitely reflection on 2011's fashion- the good, the bad, and absolutely dreadful- I'm all about looking forward. So ladies and gent, let's make 2012 the most fabulous year yet. To get things started, let's take a look at my six favorite fashion moments of 2011 and my six most-anticipated for 2012.

REWIND: 2011

1. Kate Middleton's Wedding Dress

Sure it's a little cliche, but how could you not love this wedding dress? Kate looked absolutely radiant and this just validated Sarah Burton as a designer. Yes, I went there.  (Photo Cred)

2. Tibi Fall RTW 2011

Not only was this show a Fashion Week first for me, but the collection is absolutely gorgeous. I love the mix between casual daywear and fantastic cocktail dresses.

3. The Savage Beauty Exhibit

I cried, what more can I say?  It was honestly the most beautiful exhibit I've ever seen.

4. Olivia Wilde at the 2011 Golden Globes (Oscar de la Renta)

My favorite red carpet look of the year, hands down. I loved the juxtaposition with the dress, hair, and spiked Louboutins. Could this get any better? Nope (Photo Cred).

 

5. Alexander McQueen RTW Spring 2012

My favorite collection of the whole year, I believe. All of the detail is hauntingly beautiful and Burton really upholds the McQueen aesthetic. (Photo Cred)

6. Hailee Steinfeld 

Hailee's definitely 2011's ultimate style icon. I love her ability to really take risks whilst embracing her youthfulness. (Photo Cred)

CAN'T WAIT: What's in Store for 2012 

1. New Dior Designer 

Ever since John Galiano's dramatic departure from Dior, the company has been looking for a new head designer. From Marc Jacobs to Ricardo Tisci, it seem as if the Dior potentials list is a "who's hot in fashion." The latest suspect is Raf Simons, which I'm not personally loving. As long as this next designer doesn't dress like a pirate, we'll all be okay. (Photo Cred)

2. Rooney Mara

I'm calling it now: Rooney Mara will be this year's style icon.  With her awesome portrayal of Lisbeth Salander, I'm so sure that we're going to be seeing a lot of Mara. Also, didn't she rock that Prabal Gurung at the Dragon Tattoo premiere? I say yes. (Photo Cred)

3. Jason Wu for Target 

 I died of happiness when I heard the news. Though this collection may not be as big as the Missoni for Target collection, but I'll be camping outside for this one! (Photo Cred)

4. Apocalyptic Chic

I'm not going to lie: I'm afraid of 2012. Is the world really going to end?  This year, let's laugh the apparent apocalypse in the face, shall we? (Photo Cred)

5. 2012 Golden Globes

Runway Report: Pre-Fall 2012

You'll never believe it, but I can be pretty busy sometimes. Between the Twelve Days of Trendy-  that was a blast- and my British holiday, I've barely had any time to blog. But don't worry, I know you were really worried, I'm here and ready to keep you updated. First up: Pre Fall 2012. Although I sometimes find this series of runway shows to be a little superfluous since Fall 2012 is so soon, there are so many collections that I was obsessed with. I don't know how long this recap will be, Pre-Fall 2012 was that great,  so I apologize in advance.

Oscar de la Renta

In my mind, Oscar de la Renta can literally do know wrong. From his ladylike day wear to his show-stopping evening gowns , this collection is so feminine and chic. The vast array of colors throughout this collection is absolutely stunning. Though some silhouettes are very similar, the different colors make each look special. I also love how de la Renta always incorporates jewels into each look. Each collection doesn't just showcase some new clothes; instead, Oscar de la Renta offers a mature and glamourous lifestyle through his collection.   (Photo Cred)

Alice+Olivia

This might have been my favorite collection of the whole preseason. I'm serious when I say that I loved every single look. From the oversized trousers to fun party dresses, every look is youthful and  fashion-forward. Throughout the collection, there's a mix of a feminine flare and versatility. To make the collection a little more edgy, the sassy berets and red lips are the perfect finishing touches. What made this collection so fabulous, at least for me, is Stacey Bendet's use of different colors, textures, and silhouettes. Since every look is truly unique, the collection feels more like a sneak-peak into a super glam girl's closet.  And can we talk about that finale?  The jeweled bodice plus the flowing silhouette equals perfection.  (Photo Cred)


Diane von Furstenberg 

In my mind, this collection is the perfect juxtaposition between Jackie O's style and a rocker chick in London during the 1960's. That subtle struggle between good versus evil truly made me love this collection. Honestly, if this collection was purely one or the other, I wouldn't have liked it as much; however, this conflict makes it  something special. (Photo Cred)

Zero & Maria Cornejo

Not only does this color experiment with different prints and  textures, but the execution of these pieces are awesome. Many of the pieces serve as a blank canvas to me,  therefore they are extremely versatile. The silhouettes are rather primitive; however,  each ensemble is executed magnificently. Execution is more important than innovation in my mind.   (Photo Cred)

Rag&Bone 

I'm usually not a fan of sports-inspired collections; however, I'm such a Rag & Bone fan. Unlike most sports-inspired collections, this collection is promising because of its versatile pieces. The cozy sweater, for example, would look awesome with skinny jeans, a maxi skirt, or even a bodycon skirt and chunky tights.The red leather skirt would also look fabulous with a chunky sweater or a slim-fitted shirt. I always need options and Rag&Bone gives me options!  (Photo Cred)

Temperley London

I love this Temperley London collection because it's like feminine overload.  From the narrow silhouettes to the use of sequins and brocade-inspired pieces, this collection did not disappoint. I feel as if femininity is now a fashion taboo: we're now encouraged to dress androgynously, which I don't love. However , this collection shows us that we should be unapologetically feminine.   (Photo Cred)

Thakoon Addition

This collection is so cool because a lot of the pieces are quite weird. For example, the initially awkward silhouettes are definitely an acquired taste; however, they evolve into very chic and versatile pieces. Additionally all of the prints are borderline abrasive, but I kind of like it. However, I like my fashion like I like my people: weird. I love collections with stories and oddities. But that's what fashion should do: it should make you think. As a whole, the collection is definitely off-beat, youthful, and thought-provoking.   (Photo Cred)

3.1 Phillip Lim

I like this collection because it covers two different sides of the spectrum. The straight silhouettes and impeccable execution gives this look a very serious vibe. On the other hand, the funky comic tops prove that fashion is supposed to be fun. I love juxtaposition and some comedy in fashion.  Best of both worlds, right?  (Photo Cred)

Theyskens' Theory 

Reminiscent of his past, this collection depicts another  Olivier Theyskens designing peak. This collection strays away from clean-cut casual attire and explores a more gothic side of Theory. I love the long hemlines, quirky patterns, and layers overload. Also, there's something quite grungy going on here, and I like it.  (Photo Cred)

Michael Kors 

Honestly, I think this is the first time I've ever become addicted to Kors. Don't get me wrong, Michael Kors is such a fabulous American designers; however, I've never really felt that strong connection with one of his collections. Until now. With a saloon- vibe, this collection is a combination of all-American and progressive minimalism.  Should we talk about that detailing? Phenomenal. I love all of Kors' fur accents: it may not be very logical when it comes to pre-fall, but I'm a fan! Additionally, I love how Kors plays with hemlines and color throughout this collection. Ports 1961

Although this collection is super small,  it's definitely one of my favorites. If there are two things I love in life, it's definitely long-sleeved dresses and prints. There's a retro je ne sais quoi about this collection that I'm in love with; however, there's also something progressive about this collection. All of these pieces offer an effortlessly chic canvas to accessorize. The long dresses, for example, would look great as is or piled on with fur, necklaces, or even a moto-vest.  Obsessed.   (Photo Cred)

Burberry Prorsum

As much as I love my fur, feathers, and all around glamour, every now and then I love me some classic collections. Burberry Prorsum, for example, is the epitome of fashion-forward and classic glamour. In this collection, Christopher Bailey did a phenomenal job making classic fabrics and silhouettes exciting. The rich colors and textures truly added something special to each look. Like that fur jacket? Breathtaking. From fur trim to dainty florals, Bailey successful made this collection a hit.  In addition, the reoccurring bow belt adds femininity to these very traditional looks. Also, it gives the collection an additional consistency. I would also like to add that the men's ensembles are also spectacular.  (Photo Cred)

J. Mendel 

This collection is awesome because there are so many details.  From the creatively bunched bodices to the skirts with the sheared detailing, each evening gown is something to go ga-ga over. Throughout the collection, there's this awesome play between different textures, ultimately creating a super luxe feel. According to Giles Mendel, this collection is all about "unapologetic luxury," which I think is so right-on.  The emphasis on leather, evening wear, and fur precisely hits Giles' inspiration right on the head. (Photo Cred)

Jason Wu

I think it's in my DNA to love everything and anything Jason Wu creates. Fortunately, this collection is no exception. I love Wu's ability to constantly make classic pieces innovative. Sort of like this Burberry Prorsum collection, but different. Unlike Burberry Prorsum, each of Wu's collections are both cohesive and versatile. Anyways, now about the fashion. The everyday apparel is so awesome. I love how Wu incorporated red houndstooth into the collection. In general, I love the edgy contrast between the simple silhouettes and the geometric lines and colors. While his casual wear is stunning, this collection's evening dresses are phenomenal. I'm so smiten with that beautiful cobalt blue dress with the beyond incredible neckline. Fash-gasm, my new fashion word. (Photo Cred)

The Style Files: I'll be Waiting for You Baby, 'Cause I'm Through

The weirdest thing is listening to a song's cover before the  original song. I don't know why I find it so weird, but I do. This recently happened with The Strokes' "You Only Live Once" : I loved a certain cover of it for a couple months, and then I finally listened to the original. It's weird that it took me so long since I love The Strokes, but  I'm please to say that the original did not disappoint. In my humble opinion, this song is addicting. But then again, it's not like you read this blog to hear about my musical preferences. This section is just for my personal enjoyment.

STYLE-SPIRATION: Ali MacGraw
When it comes to style inspirations, I always love playing "blast-from-the-past."  In my mind, these fashionistas are the ones who really paved the way for chic and progressive fashion. I love Ali MacGraw because I feel like I can relate to her style a lot. Every outfit, she's so glam but it almost feels like it's no big deal: it's just natural to her.

This look screams  60's and I like it. The silhouette and the bell-sleeve are perfection. The seemingly white boots are so edgy. Plus, I love a good long-sleeved mini. (Photo Cred)

THE WEEKLY

• Sarah Jessica Parker at the annual UNICEF Snowflake Ball (Louis Vuitton): Talk about a wintry wonderland: I'm obsessed with this look. Although these separates may make other people look boxy, I think the proportions are righteous on her. Sure, the silhouette isn't the most exciting; however, the detail of her ensemble is phenomenal. The monochromatic look is also perfect for all of that detail. Have you guys realized that I really like detail? The messiness of her hair complements the feathered skirt. Gorgeous.
• Kate Hudson at the Brit Fashion Awards (Stella McCartney): This look is so sultry, it's awesome. The cut-out is the perfect thing to complement the long,straight silhouette. Though I love my jewels, keeping this look clean and simple allows us to focus on the dress' detailing. Also, the high bun plus the winged liner equals supreme.
• Olivia Palermo at the Brit Fashion Awards (Matthew Williamson): Love. First of all, I'm obsessed with Olivia Palermo's style. Second, I love Matthew Williamson. Put them together and you get a fabulous look. I love this dress and keeping the color palette simple is such a smart choice: there's so much going on that color would've ruined this look. I also love how she mixed high- Matthew Williamson- with low, Topshop. STYLE DO!  The cutout of the shoes complements the feathers on the Williamson dress, making it an awesome look. Keeping the hair slicked back is smart too: if it was down, there would've been too much going on. Smart and fabulous look!

The Style Files: I'm Tired of Seein' the Days Goin' by, Tearin' the Numbers Off My Wall

So you know when you randomly find a band and you really like them? Yeah, that happened to me this week. To quickly sum it up, The Lemonheads are awesome: very chill music.

STYLE SPIRATION: Sarah Hyland

Do you guys remember that whole Sarah Hyland slash Lea Michele debacle on Fashion Police? Well I do and let me just  say that I'm so team Sarah. Not only is she super funny, but Hyland is a fabulous fashionista herself. So this week's style-spiration is dedicated to Sarah Hyland.

At the Latest Harry Potter Movie Premiere (Paule Ka): Gorgeous! The all-black ensemble is super chic and the metallic clutch adds the perfect "wow" factor. The fun ponytail perfectly contrasts Hyland's smoky eye. Obsessed. 

At the 2011 SAG Awards (Max Mara Elegante): This look is super youthful and laid back, which I love. The casual waves, mixed with the draping of the orange dress, is supreme. Keeping the makeup fresh, as well as having minimal jewels, is perfection. (Photo Cred)

At the Glee 3D Premiere (Nuj Novakhett): I'm obsessed with this look! Usually, I get skeptical when I see a cut-out dress;however, this look incredible on her. The dress is gorgeous and the light shoes and clutch makes this look summery. The natural makeup and braid gives this look a youthful twist.

THE WEEKLY

• Gaga at the Gaga Pop-Up Store in Barneys (Chanel): This so extravagant-almost too extravagant- but I love it. In my mind, this is the perfect mix of Jackie O and Lady Gaga. The contrast between black and white is so classic. Also, I'm so smitten with her use of accessories. The red lip:  need I say more?  I love how she can be her crazy self without pushing the envelope too far.
• Fergie at the Black Eyed Peas Experience Launch Party (Jen Kao skirt and an Ellery jacket): I'm not obsessed with this look; however, I think it was styled very well.  The textured skirt and the tribal-inspired earrings are perfectly styled with the black ensemble. The sleek ponytail and the strong blazer adds a dash of sexy.

The 2011 American Music Awards

I have a bone to pick with the American Music Awards. I didn't watch the show; however,  I know that something very, very wrong happened:

ADELE DID NOT WIN "ARTIST OF THE YEAR."

Clearly, they made a HUGE mistake . If you haven't heard Adele's album, 21, you may live underneath a rock. In my opinion, it's the best album of the year and Adele is the best artist...ever: she is so honest and the album is  beautiful. I could literally go on a day-long rant about Taylor Swift: I hate her.  I think she's annoying and why does she always act so surprised when she wins? The AMAs is obviously an exception to that complaint because she shouldn't have won. TayTay, you're so 2009. Now that I typed out my feelings, let's talk about the fashion. 

THE WORST

• Kimberly Perry of "The Band Perry" (Bottega Veneta): Remember when Emma Stone rocked this look better than Kimberly Perry? I do. 'Twas the 2011 MTV Movie Awards. Yeah, it's a cool dress; however, fashion repeats make me uncomfortable. Also, I don't think this flatters her body very well: a longer hemline would've accentuated her pear-shape. Also, those shoes are weird.
• Cheryl Hines (Lorena Sarbu); Awkward city. The bodice is really pretty; however, it's too boxy and makes her look large. The hair and makeup is stunning, but it'd be more appropriate on a- dare I utter the name- Taylor  Swift. That hemline makes me feel uncomfortable- it's too cheesy- and I don't like those shoes with this dress. Awkward city. 
• Jennifer Hudson (Jenny Packham): In my humble opinion, she's too old to wear such a short dress. General rule to follow: if you have kids, don't  go higher than a mid-thigh hem. It makes me feel uncomfortable. Clearly, the theme of the 2011 American Music Awards is rage and uncomfortableness. Anywho, the draping of the dress doesn't do anything for her enviable figure.  The hair is super sleek, which I love, but I'm not a fan of that fuchsia lip. Usually, I love a fuchsia lip; however, this isn't doing anything for me. It's a shame because Jennifer Hudson has been doing such a great job dressing herself! 
• Jennifer Morrison (Temperley London): Ladies and gent, NEVER EVER UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF A PAIR OF SHOES. I loved the hair, especially with such an ethereal dress, but those shoes ruined the look. Ruined it, I tell yah! I think a killer pair of pumps would've made this incredible. Whoopsies.
• Mary J. Blige (Roberto Cavalli): I really don't like this: the large animal print isn't very flattering. I like the idea of a one-shouldered dress, but what's that awkward fabric situation on her left arm? Also, those earrings look awkward with such a fierce dress. Not a fan.
• Phoebe Price (I Don't Want to Know): There are so many things wrong with this. I actually think this is my all-time favorite "Worst Dressed" look because it's that bad. Here goes a random enumeration: the hat is weird, that makeup looks like those creepy old ladies on Rugrats, the dress is super unflattering, and what's up with that fur? THE WORST OF THE WORST. 

THE BEST 

• Katherine Heigel (Roberto Cavalli): She looks so awesome: I love it! That plunging neckline and high slit are so sultry; however, she classes it up with a sleek updo and that stunning red lip. On anyone else, I think this dress could be a bit much: I mean, did you see that back? Instead, Katherine looks like a glamourous superstar! Also, I really want those earrings.
• Selena Gomez (Giorgio Armani): I think it's really ironic when such a young person rocks the "Old Hollywood Glamour" look, but Selena looks absolutely stunning. The draping on the dress is so luxe and I love the hint of fringe! The glossy pewter acts as a neutral; however, the color doesn't wash Selena out. Such a classic hairdo is new for her, but it's so classic. To keep this look young, Selena opted for a peach lip instead of the typical red lip. Fabulous! 
• Taylor Swift (Reem Acra): Even though I really despise her with almost every fiber of my being, I have to admit that this look is good. For her. It's pretty typical Taylor Swift- apparel: a sparkly, neutral dress with a simple silhouette. However, I do like how she mixed up the hairL the ponytail makes her look younger. The jade-colored earrings are also a nice surprise. Maybe one day, she'll actually do something to surprise us.
• Hillary Scott (Rani Zakhem): This is absolutely stunning. The column silhouette plus the the Swarovski embellishments equals perfection. Hillary takes the LBD to the next level, which I love. Her casual hair and dark eye slash light lip combination is a perfect final touch. Gorgeous!  
• Nicki Minaj (Oscar de la Renta): This is actually stunning. Sure, her hair is typical Nicki; however, the dress is gorgeous. I love the mix between the delicate bodice and the dramatic skirt. Also, the contrast of black and green is strikingc, but not overwhelming. And the styling is superb: I love how well the Alexander McQueen shoes complement the dress' bodice. Minimal jewels is also good for this look, or else it would've been too much. Phenomenal.

Red Carpet Galore!

There have been a lot of award show lately, like the Bambi Awards...what. Clearly, I haven't been on my A-Game in terms of red carpet reporting so get ready for a quick crash course!  Allow me to give you lovely people the best of the best. And the worst of the worst. You're welcome.

THE WORST 

Taylor Swift at the Country Music Awards (J.Mendel): I'M SO BORED WITH HER IT'S BORDERLINE UNBEARABLE. At this point, I can tell you what she's going to wear: something girly from J.Mendel or maybe a pop of color from Jenny Packham. Once every blue moon, she may even wear Elie Saab, but that's a BIG maybe. Being boring is probably the biggest fashion faux pas ever. Even when people dress poorly, they're trying! They had a vision, it just failed miserably.You're a superstar, Tay Tay,  so dress like it. (Photo Cred)

Alejandra Guzman at the Latin Grammy Awards (I Don't Want to Know): I think this dress speaks for itself.  There are really no words to describe how terrible this is.(Photo Cred)

Leanne Rimes at the CMA (Badgley Mischka): As much as I love Badgley Mischka, I hate this look. The superfluous amount of frill makes her appear even skinnier, which scares me. The hair is way too casual and makes it look like she slipped on the dress and left. It just looks awkward. To top it all off, that's a pretty awkward pose.  (Photo Cred)

Laura-Bell Bundy at the CMA (A Trailer Park, apparently): Serious question: why would anyone EVER wear this? She looks so trashy or as if she just came from the circus. Her hair looks really good, but I'm so angry about this look. Seriously, is this a publicity stunt or does she really have no idea how to dress? (Photo Cred)

D'manti at the Latin Grammys (No designer will confess to  making this): I love a good mullet silhouette every now and then. This, however, is too much. Too much of EVERYTHING. Those awkward bunches of fabric aren't flattering, that shirt makes me uncomfortable, and who needs a train that's THAT long? She doesn't.  (Photo Cred)

Shakira at Latin Grammys (Nobody ever knows who designed the unfortunate looks for a reason): This reminds me of Sherri Hill prom dresses, which I despise with a burning passion of a thousand suns. It's just not chic and too flashy. She's so pretty! Why would she wear something so tacky? I just don't understand.  ((Photo Cred)

Selena Gomez at the MTV European Music Awards (Marchesa): I actually like this dress; however, the styling  scares me. Doesn't  this look-  especially the ponytail and pink clutch- remind you of the Lolita trend? I'm all for letting your fashion freak flag fly, but that trend just makes me feel uncomfortable. (Photo Cred)

THE BEST 

Jenny from the Block at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards (Versace): Marc Anthony who? No really. She looks stunning! The nude look works so well with the floral applique. The body-hugging silhouette complements the applique instead of making her seem awkward and bulging.  That sexy slit says "look at me" without being trashy. Also, that hair and makeup? Flawless. Literally. Flawless. This is a homerun- my only reference to sports in this blog whole- in my book! (Photo Cred)

Indie Lee at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards (Dolce and Gabbana): As my absolute FAVORITE skin care guru-slash-mentor in the whole wide world, how could I not include her fashion win? Indie looks super sophisticated and fierce in this leopard Dolce and Gabbana dress. I love this dress on Indie because she looks like a modern-day pinup girl, which never goes out of style.  The unexpected pop of color really spices up this outfit and allows the leopard to act as a neutral. Anyone who can make leopard act as a neutral is a winner. Minimal jewels and the tan shoes is a super smart move because we're not overwhelmed by too many bold elements. FABULOUS. (Photo Cred)

 

Lea Michele at- surprise- the Glamour Women of the Year Awards (Jenny Packham): I have a very rational beefage with Lea Michele, which dates back to her days in Spring Awakening. However, she looks absolutely stunning here. This dress, especially coupled with the soft waves, gives off such an old-school glamour look that I'm obsessed with. Also, I love me a bright lip so this is perfection. Keeping the amount of jewels on a low is appropriate, since the dress is quite extravagant on it's own. Lovely! (Photo Cred)

Emma Stone at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards (Lanvin): Remember when I said that Emma Stone always looks super chic and cool? Yeah, I wasn't lying. I love the this look on her so much: it's like a chic Greek goddess. Super cool.  The dress' color, which would look awkward on most, actually makes her glow: it looks fabulous with her red hair! The draping and the long necklaces make this look effortlessly cool. And can we talk about those shoes? Awesome. I also love the wavy updo: a casual chic hairstyle. SO GOOD.  (Photo Cred)

Sofia Vergara at the Latin Grammys (Reem Acra): She looks absolutely heavenly. The silhouette of this dress is flattering; however, it's not as sultry as most of her outfits usually are. I like the change: I think she looks classier! The intricate beading- or at least I think it's beading- works so well with those uber glam hoop earrings. As always, her hair and makeup is top notch. Lady Gaga at the Bambi Awards (Alexander McQueen): So you probably think that I'm a craze, but I have an unconditional love for McQueen. IRL- in real life if you're not tehy savvy - this collection was mind-blowing. Don't hate, appreciate the beautiful craftmanship. (Photo Cred)
