The 2013 Met Ball

Though this post is a few weeks delayed, not blogging about this year's Met Gala would a major faux pas. On May 6th, the CFDA's punk exhibit opened and its rebellious aesthetic was splattered on the red carpet. From funky hair to "bad girl" threads, it seems as if our favorite tastemakers' ensembles were an extension of the exhibit. But that doesn't mean every look was spectacular. On the contrary, a handful of looks were reminiscent of a horror flick. Check out my best and worst dressed picks below! 

The Worst.

Elle Fanning in Rodarte: I know a punk exhibit calls for defiant makeup; however, this eye makeup gives me the heebie-jeebies, especially with the tie-dye dress. Instead of portraying punk, the potent dress and matching makeup creates a train-wreck.Fanning would've looked a million times better had she sported a sleek black dress and zany makeup.

Marion Cotillard in Dior: The French bombshell is known for her cutting-edge taste;however, this ensemble leaves fashion fanatics feeling unimpressed. Not only does this nude ensemble completely wash Cotillard out, it looks like something you'd find at Forever 21. And instead of adding a necessary burst of funk, the black and white shoes just don't make sense. Hopefully, the actress's "worst dressed" streak will end shortly. 

Cameron Diaz in Stella McCartney: Though the gold spiked belt is absolutely righteous, the rest of the look is too matronly for both the Met Ball and Diaz. The starlet is 40 years-old, yet this ensemble automatically adds another 20 years. And that slicked back hair? No thank you! 

Miley Cyrus in Marc Jacobs: Spiked hair? Mesh dress? Oh, she's just being Miley. In terms of Met Ball attire, this ensemble s perfectly aligned with the exhibit's punk theme. So why is it on my worst dressed list? Even though dressing for an event in crucial, a tastemaker should never compromise his or her level of sophistication. Yes, Cyrus is prone to sporting revealing ensembles; however, this dress is on another level. Additionally, the spiked hair and fire engine pout makes her look a little crazy.

Lily Collins in Vivienne Westwood: Silly Lily, rain ponchos are never chic. Though I appreciate the  use of diverse fabrics, this whole ensemble is just wrong. If  you weren't deterred by the full skirt,  Collins's stringy locks suggest that Mother Nature rained on her sartorial parade.

Gwyneth Paltrow in Valentino: Though this frock is an improvement from the actress's barely-there look at the Iron Man 3 premiere, it's just not right for this occasion. To be blunt, there is nothing about this ensemble that screams Met Ball. Even the infamous Tom Ford cape attire better captured Vogue's ultra-glam aesthetic (not to mentioned that hot pink hue would've been perfect for last year's gala). But above all things, Paltrow is on my worst dressed list for her sourpuss attitude towards the Met Ball.  If you think being at a soiree with fashion's biggest influencers is unfun, there is seriously no hope for you.

Kim Kardashian in Givenchy: There's not doubt that the reality star has received negative press for her inflatable pregnancy; however, her poor choice of ensembles doesn't help smother the criticism. Most of the time, Kanye's baby mama is dressing as if she weren't pregnant. The result? Her style choice are unflattering and look quite uncomfortable. Instead of wearing skintight threads and busy prints, Kardashian should focus on sporting pregnancy-friendly outfits: comfortable shoes, airy silhouettes and empire waists. Though this look is less-than-perfect, I will defend that infamous floral glove. Some think it's a style don't, but let's forget she's at the Met Ball. This wouldn't be appropriate for the MTV Movie Awards, yet the Met Ball demands crazy accessories and creativity.

Zooey Deschanel in Tommy Hilfiger: So now we know why The New Girl star has bangs. Not only does her new do destroy the quirky girl reputation she's worked so hard to secure, she looks matronly. Though this blue asymmetrical dress is darling, it's not right for this event. We're never going to see a punk Deschanel; however, her outfit from the 2012 Golden Globes is more appropriate.

Florence Welch in Givenchy: There's a fine line between being a fashion icon and being predictable. Whenever the Florence and the Machine frontwoman steps onto a red carpet, I'm expecting her to wearing an ethereal Givenchy number. And she did just that at this year's Met Ball.  She shouldn't diss her personal style; however, fashionistas and fashionistos everywhere are getting a case of déjà vu.

The Best.

Miranda Kerr in Michael Kors: As always, the model extraordinaire makes us a little self-loathing in this barely there  Michael Kors number. The dark berry lip and studded clutch offer a dash of vampy glam while the cutout dress keeps this look summery and fun. My only piece of criticism is that Kerr should've pulled her hair into a tight ponytail--the added drama would've made this look absolutely perfect.

Sarah Jessica Parker in Giles: Truly, this is what the Met Ball (and fashion) is all about.  From the clashing patterns to the ornate faux-hawk,  the fashionista embodied the funky theme without losing her style integrity. I'm so glad she makes unexpected sartorial choices after all these years because she continues to teach us that fashion should always be fun.

Rooney Mara in Givenchy: Though Mara's onscreen alterego, Lisbeth Salander, would've fit in perfectly at this year's gala, the emerging actress looked absolutely flawless. As my favorite Givenchy look of the night, Mara's feminine frock was perfectly juxtaposed by the gothic lip and slicked back hair. The result? Punk with class. Brava.

Sienna Miller in Burberry: Adhering to punk's literal interpretation, Miller's surplus of spikes is darling. Though this concept could be executed just about anywhere, this ensemble reminds us that the use of accessories can actually make a look go from drab to fab.

Emma Watson in Prabal Gurung: Seriously, can Emma Watson do any wrong? Though this dress is similar to Kerr's outfit, the Bling Ring gives this revealing silhouette a classic twist. Her look may not be very "punk-inspired," but I think she looks stunning.

The Worst of 2012

They say that when it seems too good to be true, it probably is. This year prompted some pivotal fashion moments, but it also produced a slew of cringeworthy looks. Whip out the tissues, ladies and gents: here comes the worst of the worst. To ease the pain, I've decided to express my feelings through superlatives.

Most Ironic

Lena Dunham at the Emmy Awards:  I jut think it's really funny how she's so naked on Girls, yet she decides to borrow her grandmother's frock for the Emmys. Wait...that's Prada? Now I'm confused.(Photo)

Worst Pregnancy Outfit

Claire Danes at the Emmy Awards: Usually an angel on the red carpet, Danes' sunny number was a big disappointment. First of all, the silhouette is not flaunting her pregnancy curves. On the contrary, it looks like she ate an extra helping of pasta (and not in a good way). Not to mention the dress' blousing is as sloppy as Carrie Matheson's mental state. Maybe next year. (Photo)

Though completely sequined gowns sound lovely in theory, they're a nightmare in real life. Not to mention unflattering. Fergie at the Grammy Awards: There's a fine line between thought-provoking and trashy. Fergie crossed that line. And then some. Though Jean Paul Gaultier paired black underwear with this dress for the runway, it's an uncomfortable combination in real life. Worst Copycat 

Emma Stone at the Academy Awards: Remember how I said that Stone can pull off several different looks? Well this is not one of them. First of all, this is just too much red to handle. Secondly, Stone is clearly trying too hard. Instead of reliving Nicole Kidman's red carpet fame, this A-Lister should just be herself! (Photo)

The Worst Ever

Cyndi Lauper at the American Music Awards: It's been a few months, and I still have no idea how to properly react to this ensemble. While I understand  that Lauper has "rockstar" status, I don't think that gives her an excuse to forgo a nice pair of pants. Especially when she's that old. And what's with plaid sash-- is it even a sash? All I know is that this outfit makes me sad. (Photo)

For those who know me, this post's title may come as a bit of a shock. I love the Kardashians (you shouldn't be that surprised to hear I'm watching Keep Up With the Kardashians as I write this). From their low-class reality show to their empire of boutiques, products, and social events, I think the Kardashians are insane geniuses. Even that four hour wedding special had me watching and rooting for Kim and man- Kris. In my mind, the Kardashians can do no wrong. They're successful! They're entertaining! They're funny! They're fashionable! Little did I know, I would have to rethink the latter.  Now you must be wondering what happened. Cannes happened.

Sure, there have been a lot of crazy outfits at this year's Cannes, but this one is officially my least favorite. Ever. So why didn't I just include this bad boy in my Cannes roundup? This ensemble was so painful, it needed my undivided attention. I must admit, her hair and makeup is stellar. Sexy and clean at the same time. Scratch that- I like her makeup. I'm such a sucker for the smokey eye and nude lip combination. That hair, on the other hand, needs to go. A slick ponytail would've been perfect, not this greasy mess!  And that awkward slicked back do is horrendous with the Balmain. Speaking of Balmain, as much as I love Olivier Rousteing and everything he does, this gilded mini just does not work with Kim. She's too boobalicious and curvy for this silhouette and deep v. Especially for Cannes! This is a classy event- not the MTV movie awards. On a side note, why  is Kanye even wearing jeans? THIS IS CANNES! HE'S AT CANNES FOR HIS MOVIE.  For such a glam-obsessed "couple," I'm majorly disappointed.  In a world of red carpet glam, does this really suffice? No.

As if this ensemble couldn't get any worse, Kim decides to put on those Giuseppe Zanotti booties. Not only are they an uncomfortable height, but why would you ever pair those with a mini?  She looks like a second-rate street walker. I hate it. This weekend, I decided to re-watch the first season of Keeping Up With the Kardashians and Kim claimed she was a stylist in one episode. I scoffed as any fashion snob would.

To top off this fashion horror story, Kardashian did the unthinkable: repeated an outfit. Sure, she didn't wear the same thing twice, but she stole Gwyneth's show-stopping Pucci from the 2011 Emmys, which is worse.

Though this happens all the time in Hollywood, Fashion Police wouldn't have a weekly "Bitch Stole My Look" segment if there wasn't, this is terrible. How could you copy a look as infamous as Gwyneth's? So wrong. Especially since the same dress is showcased at two very prominent red carpet events: the Emmys and Cannes. Plus, it's not even like Kim looks better. While er hourglass figure offers a different look, I hate those earrings. They are neither here nor there.

Kim has had some fashion successes since then; however, I really wonder if I'll ever forget this. As much as I hate to say it, I feel like Kim Kardashian is no longer relevant in the world of fashion. It's fine, I was always more of a Kourtney fan anywho.

The Style Files: You're the Only One I See

Okay, ever since the VMAs, I'm absolutely OBSESSED with Beyonce's song "Love on Top." I think it's super cute and puts me in the best mood. Beyonce is the best, enough said.

Style-Spiration

So I really think that Selena Gomez is the fountain of youth for style. She keeps it classy and always looks mega youthful. With going back to college and all, I think it's imperative to dress stylish but  not look aged. Miss Gomez, this Style-spiration goes to you.

At the 2008 Alma Awards in Marchesa.  I'm obsessed wit h this dress and the styling is prime. The upper cuff keeps this grecian look current. And the side bun is supreme. The effortlessness is super classy but she doesn't look agaed.  (Photo Cred)

At the MuchMusic Video Awards in Burberry. Jeez. She may look a little too teen with this look and the uber curly hair; however, I do give her credit for mixing up the color situation. While most people do nude shoes and a colored dress, she reversed it. Good going, Selena! (Photo Cred)

Miss Gomez in Marchesa Notte. It's known that a Little Black dress is the epitome of classy;however, the fun shoulders added the PERFECT amount of fun. And the red lip totally spiced up a potentially mature look. I just love how she can add a fashion forward spin to even something so timeless. Well this style-spiration was less-than-perfect, but onto the weekly!

• Kim Kardashian being glamourous in the Big Apple (I need to figure it  out) :She actually looks flawless. Like, I wish she wore this to her wedding...what? Anyways, it's so flattering on her body and I love this dress paired with the soft waves. The dazzling ,yet , minimal jewels were the perfect finishing touch. Also, dark nails with a ivory dress? To die for! 
• Diane Kruger at the Ides of March Premiere (Elie Saab): I don't usually use the word marvelous, but this look is truly marvelous. She looks like a beautiful princess! Okay, I'm creepy...let's talk fashion. I love the color, especially with her complexion and hair color. The glitzy bodice and the minimal jewels are a perfect combination. And the effortless hair mixed with the princess silhouette is a perfect juxtaposition. Obsessed. 
• Julianna Margulies (Carolina Herrera): Gorgeous. I'm a sucker for houndstooth so I went googly-eyes for this skirt. The semi-shear top added some sex appeal to this skirt. Hate to break it to you, but houndstooth isn't very sexy. But with a shear shirt? For sure! And she gets major style points for that fuschia lip, so chic and unexpected! I knew I liked her when  wore that velvet dress...

Celeb Profile: Kourtney Kardashian

I've been watching a lot of Kourtney and Kim Take New York  lately- I even downloaded an episode for my journey back home! And I have a bone to pick with the media, I suppose: why does everyone look at Kim Kardashian as a major fashionista when Kourtney is the most stylish of the whole clan.  Khloe is my favorite Kardashian-don't worry I hope this post will be more intellectual- but Kourtney has a fabulous eye for fashion. Here are some prime examples:

Even when she's doing daily activities,  Kourtney looks chic and fashion forward: here, she's wearing Balenciaga flats and that gorgeous Adrianne Landau vest! The large proportions are both flattering and effortless with her small frame.

Any of the Kardashians could pull off this vintage jumpsuit, but it was Kourtney's eye for fabulousity that makes this an amazing look. I love this all black look! She kept it simple and let the amazing details of this jumpsuit be the main focus.

I think what I love most about her style is how Kourtney doesn't always have to dress in body-con dresses; however, she doesn't wear shapeless designs either. She also looks like an everyday American woman as shown below:

How Katherine Hepburn is this look?   This Elizabeth and James blouse matched with the Bleulab jeans looks so effortlessly chic and modern on her. When Kourtney goes out, it doesn't have to be a haute couture show...more like a ready-to-wear show.

And, let's be honest, would you see any of her sisters wearing something so androgynous?

I'm so in love with this look, even though it whispers minimalism. Matching the Jill Stuart pants with the Kain sweatshirt is really unexpected. It's so...anti-Kardashian. And I kind of love it!

While I don't love- or really like at all- her combination of Wolford tights and Prada pumps, I do really appreciate her ability to experiment! 

The Kardashians are the modern day Kennedys (minus the political prestige and timelessness but add a sex tape and a plethora of endorsements...okay they're really nothing like Kennedys at all so that was a terrible comparison): we are all fascinated by them and secretly wish we could be as glamourous as them. Kourtney is the only one who makes aspiring fashionistas like myself intrigued and envious. She follows trends, but she also makes her own. It's not the same old same old like it is with another Kardashian (...Kim). Kourtney actually takes risks and has fun with fashion. And that's what it's really about, ladies and gents.

Which Came First: The Egg or The Gaga

I think out of all of the award shows, the Grammys are my least favorite; I like my own kind of music not so much Top 40 hits. However, the Grammy's fashion is superb. It's so weird and really makes you think, which I love. It was hard to narrow it down, because the Grammy's don't have any strict fashion rules,  but I think I got a pretty solid list going on here. So without a moment to spare, let us discuss the best and worst, shall we?

THE WORST:

• Ciara (Pucci): I think it looked good on her and definitely Grammy appropriate, I just really didn't like it. There needed to be more fabric and less slit. The fabrics were also really weird put together, I thought. Usually I really like Pucci, but this wasn't my favorite.
• Crystal Bowersox (Nobody knows who made this so far): Gross. No matter what, dreads will NEVER EVER EVER be a trend in my eyes. Do something nice with your hair, girl-who-I-do-not-know, this is the Grammys! As much as I love emerald green, it made her look rather old and chunky. The fabric is also pretty wrinkled, not okay.
• Gaga (Farm): For real? Yeah, Gaga's a pretty cool individual but this is getting annoying now. She's not being a human, but a spectacle. It's just really really old now. If I wanted to see this, I'd watch the History channel.
• Jennifer Lopez (Pucci): Her hair is fab, her shirt is not, I love the sparkles, but why is she looking like a Jenny from the Sketchy Street Corner. FIX YOUR HEM. Thumbs down, JLO, you should've known better.
• Kim Kardashian (KaufmanFranco): Kim, don't pretend that you're old school Jennifer Lopez. I hate this so much.  This looks so trashy and it's not even flattering! Her hair and makeup, however, looks really good. But it gets overshadowed by the stupid sparkly sac.
• Natasha Bedingfield (Something blue...nobody knows): This is extremely cheesy; very Miss America, in my mind. She looked a million times better at the pre-Grammy awards, why couldn't she swap?!

THE BEST:

• Keri Hilson (Basil Soda): Perfect for the Grammy Awards! She seriously hit the nail on the head with this one. Her blonde do looks so smashing with this bright blue mini. Bringing a splash of color to the red carpet, as well as that asymmetrical neckline. I kind of wish that the shoes were different, but she kept it classy and cool for this red carpet, BRAVO! 
• Nicole Kidman (Jean Paul Gaultier): So smitten with this look. Obviously, we don't expect Nicole Kidman to be carried in an egg,but she looked remarkable. The colors went beautifully with her complexion and ever so flattering. I think it was the perfect amount of cool for the Grammy Awards, in terms of Nicole Kidman that is.
• Lea Michele (Pucci): The lips are a bit harsh, but she still looks fabulous. I love how this is the anti-LBD: the slit is hypnotic and the lace is super super cool.  She kept the hair down which, in any other situation, would be kind of awkward worked for the Grammy awards. I'm glad she didn't try to incorporate a splash of color with the shoes; the dress had the perfect amount of "wow" to be chic.
• Florence Welch (Givenchy): I think this is one of the only times in history where I like this look significantly better on the red carpet than the runway. On the model, it looked really scary; however, Welch makes it so fun and ethereal. The no accessories was a good move, though: it would've been way too forced with out it.  Heaven on a runway.
• Jennifer Hudson (Versace): I'm really upset that she lost so much waste; I personally feel like she sold out and was ashamed of her curves which is INSANE. Anywho, she looks incredible in this Versace. The glitz, the navy and silver, the mullet hem- everything I love in a dress. This definitely is my favorite of the night. She looks rocker, but extremely put together. And the chunky Louboutins mimic the lines of the bodice of her dress. She's doing me proud.

Sagging Style

I'll be perfectly honest, I am not a fan of the SAG Awards. Of course, the whole "acting community" is a nice thought, but it's boring. And the fashion is never like the big time award shows.

Buuuuut...

modern family won.

and the social network did not.

and natalie portman won too.
and my predictions were...slacking.

As I stated before, the fashion was so- so. At the Globes' red carpet show, I squealed and my jaw dropped a plethora of times. The SAGs? Not the same. But anyways, let's talk about the looks!

THE WORST

• Winona Ryder (Alberta Ferretti): Trainwreck. Ooooof I hate everything about this. Seriously, it's like she went to a senior prom in the 1980s. the bag is awkward, her hair is awkward, and the dress looks awkward on her. I just hate this.
• Jenna Fischer (Fendi): Yes, her hair and makeup looked amazing, but this was a terrible choice. The silhouette isn't the least bit flattering; she looks matronly and boring. She's such a beautiful woman and I wish she could've picked something better for this award ceremony.
• Jennifer Lawrence (Oscar de le Renta): Before this dress, I didn't think Oscar could do any wrong. But not all fashion geniuses are perfect. Don't get me wrong, the fuschia looks incredible on her, but I hate the black belt; it makes her look like she has a gut!  The hair is also way too serious for the SAG awards. I'm also debating the shoulders but I can't even focus when that belt is there. I also feel like  there is no communication between above the belt and below the belt; if the shoulders are going to be dramatic, lose the slit!
• Naya Rivera (Aurelio Costarello): THIS IS SO DULL. The beige doesn't suite her all  that well and partially beaded bodice makes the dress look awkward and incomplete. But what I hate most about this red carpet look is the hair. It looks like there was no effort at all! Just a quick wash and dry?! YOU'RE ON THE RED CARPET. She's so beautiful and I think she could've definitely done better.
• Eva Longoria (Georges Hobelka):Blegh. I loved the ivory on Eva, but this dress was a diaster;  the draping just looks odd and not maintained and the drop waist wasn't doing anything for her figure. Her outfits are always hits or misses in my mind, no in between. What would Gabrielle Solis think?! 
• Christina Hendricks (L'Wren Scott): I love long sleeved dresses, but she did it completely wrong. The fabric did not help her curves at all! This dress showed an awkward amount of skin and it just didn't look good. I'm sure dresses someone of her curves is hard, but this is horrendous.
• Nicole Kidman (Nina Ricci): First of all, what's up with the necklace she's wearing? It totally de-sophisticates her whole look. Anyways, the amount of lace on this dress made me feel like the lace was really a spider' web. I would've really liked this dress if the back was de-laced and it was just open and sexy. The lace on the neckline is great though. 
• Kim Kardashian (Marchesa): My least favorite look of the night! It looks like Princess Jasmine on crack!  She usually has such a dramatic eye and nude lip, the entire nude makeup makes her look sickly... and really scares me. It's so messed up, I don't even know what exactly is wrong with it...does that make sense? The color's nice and Marchesa is always fabulous, but this is no good!
• Kate Mara (Herve Leger): This is just weird. She's such a beautiful girl, but what's with the headband? It looks like she's trying to match...but failed. Down and loose curls would've made the world's difference. And she didn't even accessorize besides that! The dress is really interesting and maybe it would've looked better on someone else, but the execution was so bad!
• Melissa Leo (Randi Rahm): What is this...I don't even know how to go about critiquing this. SO UGLY! The hair is really awkward and there is such a thing as metallic not working...case and point: this!
• Matthew Morrison (Prada): I wasn't aware that Matthew Morrison was ALSO Ricky Martin. Sometimes, I question his sexuality whilst watching Glee (there is nothing wrong with any sexuality, just to throw that out there).  This is too casual, too Ricky Martin...too bad.

THE BEST

• Jane Krakowski (Badgely Mischka): Absolutely stunning! She showed off her bump and looked completely chic while doing it. The silver was beautiful with her complexion and hair. Also, the asymmetrical sleeve made a mama-to-be look hot and current, which I love! It was really smart of her to wear nude platforms, emphasizing the dress and the bump. Her hair and makeup was also exquisite.
• Mila Kunis (Alexander McQueen): Best of the night, seriously! I'm obsessed with this dress; she looked hip but relaxed, which is perfect for the SAGs. I'm glad she didn't over-accessorize, a classic print wearing rule. Her hair was flawless and she embraced many of the best trends on the carpet last night.
• Sofia Vergara (Roberto Cavalli): As we all know, Sofia Vergara is a woman with many...assets.  This Cavalli dress offered her two things: class and flattery. The color looked amazing with her skin tone and hair; nobody else really wore cobalt so she surely made a splash on the red carpet. The draping around the waist seriously made her look like a minute! Also, this dress showed of the right amount of her Vergaras. It was youthful but not immature. Perfecto!
• Heather Morris (Romona Keveza): LOVE! She looked like a Pretty Pretty Princess last night! The complexity of the bodice was a perfect match to the simple skirt. The color looked so beautiful on her and the simple accessories worked well with the feathery-fabulous bodice.
• Hailee Steinfeld (Prada): I think this dress was one of the most talked about all night. At first, I thought this was terrifying, but I liked it the more I saw it. I think the SAG  Awards is the only place this dress would get a good interpretation during awards season.  The SAG Awards are less serious than the Globes or the Oscars, so it's expected to wear something a little more relaxed.  The bright colors are good for this carpet and, since she's so young, it was a really fun dress. But for any other occasion, this wouldn't be good.
• Natalie Portman (Azzaro): So sophisticated! I love the black and white combination...didn't someone just blog about this recently? Hmmm.... anyways! I love how she also showed her bump; it's the first time she's done it since her pregnancy was announced! Yes, her hair could be better, but she looks fabulous regardless.
• January Jones (Carolina Herrera): First of all, thank you for covering up! Although I wish the hair wasn't weird, I love this dress. It's so beautiful and is really flattering on Ms. Jones. She worked the lace trend perfectly into her dress without looking like a web (a la Nicole Kidman). While some of the minor details could be improved, I like this soo much better than her Globes look.
• Justin Timberlake (Simon Spurr): Why is JT so cool?  Fashionable men have it rough: how can they make a statement on the red carpet without looking cheesy. By adding the double striped tie...he looked so chic. In addition, his suit fit him perfectly.
• Claire Danes (Louis Vuitton): Absolutely fabulous!  I love the aqua and black combination fo this Vuitton, so smitten!  In this scenario, I really like the black belt: adds spice to the dress and also makes it less formal. The pink lips are also genius! This has  to be my second favorite look of the night for sure.
• Tina Fey (Oscar de la Renta): I assume that seeing Tina Fey in this dress is like watching a baby's first steps. INCREDIBLE! I'm so happy she's ditched the frumpy black and showed herself off. The red is amazing; she looked sophisticated and super classy. I'm just so proud!
• Helena Bonham Carter  (Marc Jacobs): THANK YOU FOR WEARING MATCHING SHOES! She looks so cute in this black and white Marc Jacobs outfit...almost like a 1950's housewife. Her hair is of course quirky, but I'm glad she has the ability to tame her outrageousness for one night. Kudos, Helena.
• Dianna Agron (Vintage Chanel): When I first saw her, I thought it was Emma Roberts. Anyways, I'm so glad she wore something dark and sultry. The navy looks awesome with her blonde hair and light skin. The hem-line is really interesting, but still extremely classy. I'm also happy she paired a sleek hair-do together with dark and mysterious eye  makeup. Amazing, amazing,amazing.

The Weekly: What'chya Gonna Do When They Come For You

This has absolutely NOTHING to do with fashion but 

yesterday, my boyfriend and I watched Cops 

and we loved it.

Anyways...

there were some pretty good looks this week, so, without a moment to spare

onto the weeklies!

• Kim Kardashian at a holiday party (Tadashi Shoji): LOVE. The metallics are so holiday chic and the asymmetrical shoulder is so in right now. I love how the metallics are different tones, separated by a black belt or else she would have looked very Vegas-drag-glam (not that there's anything wrong with that, just not for a holiday event). Her matte accessories are smartly paired with this dress and the fit is impeccable. I think sometimes, Kim wants to be sexy but forgets that a flattering piece matters more. In this case, this dress is both fabulous and flattering on her.
• Diane Lane at a LA Pres Conference (unknown designer): SO AGE APPROPRIATE! She looks so classy and chic. Even though it's a bit minimal, sometimes that works better for someone who is older. The blue looks absolutely incredible with her dark hair and matching her dress with cream points is great. She looks smart and fashionable at the same time!
• Lady Gaga at the Consumer Electronics Show (Sally LaPointe): As we all know, Lady Gaga is...an interesting fashion icon. Even though it seems like this outfit is more oppressed than her others, I think she looks absolutely fabulous. Long skirts, I think, should make a come-back. They're classier than minnies  and undoubtedly chic. Anyways, she pulls off this long skirt well ad the jacket creates an interesting silhouette. She looks very, dare I say it, normal? But the veil gives it enough Gaga to make this look chic and unique.
